Block A had about 20 people in it, and Block B was at least half empty. We reckoned 700, without a good view of the far blocks. Maybe 900 if the stand was fuller at the far end?

FYI The stand holds 1275. Block A as you are right only had about 20. Block B half to three quarters full while the rest of the stand was full. I reckoned about 850 in the stand with another 200 or so standing around which leaves my guestimate at 1050-1100. But then again no matter what any of us says you will put down the lowest guestimate while everyone else get preferential treatment.

Will you just put down the proper figures and remove that chip off your shoulder.

So what you're saying is that trevy's guesstimate of 1200 was actually 10-15% too high, and then berating me for not going with it?

Block B was not half to three-quarters full. I was beside it in Block A and it was less than half full. The rest of the stand is highly unlikely to have been 100% full. It may look that way, but there's always gaps. For once, I was actually there as well, so can openly refute your claims. I'll go with 900 as a middle ground.

And you may talk all you like about the atmosphere being "non-stop" - it was mute in the ground. Not even so much as a "Come on Waterford" randomly shouted. About ten minutes of broken singing towards the end and that was it.

You might pass me your blue-tinted glasses...they're affecting you're ability to see things properly...

There was a group of about 30 Waterford fans singing pretty much non-stop in the back left hand corner and the rest of the crowd was very quiet.

There were no more than 800 people there. The fact that the game I was at down there has been given a stupidly overestimated crowd makes me think that a lot of the other figures on here are wrong as well.

Wouldn't say non-stop, but they were making an effort in fairness.

I was highlighting the promise of a "rocking" RSC, though.

560-poor crwod but it was a Saturday,it was wet and it was against Kilkenny.
I think the phrase or term your looking for is "educated" and you and your dictatorship, franchise loving hoard have yet to convince anyone outside of Galway United that your attendance figures are correct. But do keep peddling it cos one day someone in the FAI might just listen to you now that your moving onto third level education. Comming soon, to the limerck forum a full scale debate on Galway united which cant be delted by galway heads lol

Cork V Bohs - Main Stand about 70- 75%, St. Annes under 50%, couldn't see the Derrynane being in it (and there were 32 of us, according to Philo's headcount). What does that add up to?

    Main Stand - 1500
    St Annes - 1500
Derrynane - usually more or less full as all ex-sheddies go there. so let say 700 out of 850.

I was told approx 4000 so lets say 3750.

Dundalk v Harps: 1400-1500, down a touch on the last couple, cos it was Friday rather than our usual Thursday!

560 in Terryland desperate night and whoever decided on a 7.00pm start on a saturday hasnt a clue about galway supporters. Both sunday & saturday games in a fortnight have seen our gates almost halved but id expect a huge improvment on Friday even if it does clash with Connacht -v- Edinburgh.

    That's too low, Stu.
Block B was more than half full, I was in it and I counted the seats and there was more occupied than vacant and now I rather cleverly use that fact to surmise it was more than half full. Not much more mind you, but just.
The stand holds 1270 or thereabouts and is split into 2 big blocks of about 340 seats (B and D) and 3 smaller ones of about 200 (A, C and E).
So let's see, erring very much on the low side, what we get...
Block A - 20 so, as you say yourself.
Block B - more than half, but what the hell, let's say 170
    Block C - was nearly full, but let's say 3/4s - 150
Block D - was chocker, but what the hell again, let's say only 300
    Block E - totally packed - no gaps - 200.
Conservative total of 840, with the actual figure closer to 900 in my opinion.

Figure for the ground was 150-200. At one stage I did a head count (it was that type of game) and could see 87 standing from my seat, but I couldn't see all of those standing on the right of the stand, and none of those on the hill to the left of it, but am reliably informed by a couple of people that those figures are correct.
So we have a range from an absolute minimum of 990 to 1100, with my guess for the real total at pretty much the same, or a smidgin higher than last week, about 1050 or so.

How 900 is a median figure I don't know, but sure you'll put down what you want to whatever I say anyway.

Is there any evidence to back up the often touted view that winter season attendences are better?

If this is true, there should have been a noticeable increase in attendences over the last 3-4 weeks. I personally haven't seen it.

It's a median figure between my guesstimate of 700, Bald Student's guess of 800, Partizan's guess of 1050 and trevy's 1200. And now your figure of 1000-ish.

Chalk me down for 1100. The game was so bad that you could have done three or four headcounts to make sure. A few of us in Block E spent way too long sizing up the attendance. Strange one in that it looked ominous 10 minutes before kick-off, but really filled up just after - no doubt boosted by the 3 scruffy, late for their own funeral students.

While there may be over- and under- estimations, a figure of 700 would be just plain wrong. As said by Stanislaus, E and D were absolutely FULL (the Waterford alphabet goes backwards!), C and B were busy and there were decent bunches standing to either side of the stand and across by SuperQuim.

The game was awful with us being slightly more awful than them. UCD have now perfected the 0-0 stalemate to such a degree that the newspapers are giving the results on Fridays now rather than wait til Saturday. How do you stick it? As one of the lads said, "At least when we were sh*t, we got to see the other team scoring goals".

7 points from the last 3 games with no goals conceded. We're one of the form teams. Our season only starts when the schools go back. BRING ON THE BO-EZ!

Form team. Nice to hear that again!

To go back to those averages again, by your own figures, Stu, you should have gone with (700+800+1000+1050+1200)/5 = 950
However, my estimate was actually 1050, so you should really have gone with (700+800+1050+1050+1200)/5 = 960
I presume you will now include bluemovie's figure, and be going with (700+800+1050+1050+1100+1200)/6 = 983

    Let's see...

Couldnt make the Athlone vs Limerick match last weekend but from what i was told the crowd might have scraped 150

Received a text message from Ash 5 mins after the Monaghan vs Athlone match had started on Tuesday night saying that he had counted 30 people in attendance including the bar staff, stewards and people on the turnstiles. Havent asked him anymore about it but I am sure he will be on some time tomorrow to confirm if it improved or not.
