600 last night (on an awful night) which is the hardcore and pretty similiar to a lot of the attendances at the Dublin clubs in a higher division. There'll be thousands there next Friday week - the glamour of the cup and all that.

Pineapple Stu - Our esteemed Chairman told me last night that there was 1600 at our game against Galway the other week. He's a fairly reliable source if you want to add that in to your averages.

No idea who shams are but you're forgetting last night was a rearranged game played midweek. These games always have poor attendances. We'd get double that if it was played friday.

Generally attendances would be down in july and august with people going away on hols etc. but still no reason to go back to the bad old days of mudball.

Also we are playing you on Sunday the 10th of September in tolka. No excuse for not bringing numbers that day.

If you don't know who Shams are then why are you defending yer club's attendances?

    no way there was

1600 at Shams -v- Gufc much smaller crowd than our first visit maybe 1,100 but no more than that.

Also for the Lims Fan that has a pop at us all the time yes we do count everyone coming through the gate as we need to know exactly how many people are in the ground for safety reasons. Until the stand is built over on the town side our safe holding capacity is just over 3,000 so if we have a visit from the fire officer we have to have a record of our gates.

No offence like but I'm going with our Chairman's figure ahead of yours.

Feck - that's a good crowd ! The ground looked busy on the EL Weekly highlights, but didn't realise you'd that many at it. Fair play.

What's caused the lift in attendances ? Is it because you're near the top of the table ? Is it Summer football...?

Or you could just have a look around and say "Nah, there's nowhere near 3000 here tonight"

Edit - was PM-ed a figure of 1200 for Cork v Sligo, open to correction if needs be.

the FAI have set a capacity of just over 2000 for the u21 international. Each el club is supposed to a have a safe holding capacity for their ground as per the licencing regulations and same has to be registered with the Fire Sevice and Local Authority.

Obviously can't comment on your other games but the attendances given for your two home games against us were LIES and pretty pathetic ones at that

    Safety Reasons - Oh Please

It amazing alright what can happen when you start to play football that can get you a good run of results.

    LTID/

Our figures are the official figures that are sent to FAI, its a pity not every club does the same thing and make all there gates public knowledge, as then there would be no need to be explaining this!!!

Your attendances are grossly exaggerated. Now I don't expect you to admit to it but we both know it's true

Let's just leave it at that

While I don't want to call your figures into question, I can tell you that - especially since attendances became a criterion for the league next year - many official attendance figures sent to the FAI are indeed lies.

Turnstiles with our gatemen and go to the office afterwards and count the tickets.

The main stand in Terryland holds 1695 seated its pretty easy to even guess the crowd to within 100 so Lims anytime you want to just pm me.You have called me a liar and brought our clubs practices into question I have been involved as a Director and official of the club for over 20 years and im willing to stand over our figures and we actually use this system so we can verify and balance the cash taken on the gate at every home game.

    Missed that - cheers!

gufc: been meaning to ask for ages - how come you keep starting your post in the "Title" section? Really annoying - you end up missing that bit and starting half-way into a sentence which suddenly doesn't make sense!

Because he's probably one of the posters that thinks you have to put a heading on every post.

... but people usually indicate it with an ellipsis at the start of the post.
You can't spell failure without FAI
