Ya maybe, or maybe its Hill Celtic making $hite of our pitch all year. How anyone can blame the club for a waterlogged pitch in the circumstances is beyond meOriginally Posted by see's it

Still its nice to know you appear to be so well up on pitches, weather etc, at least its something to cling to cos when it comes to football..........![]()
when it comes to football you never say anything but you are good to tell us whose doing exams etc but when it comes to the football your off talking about child sex cases.....
at the end of the day Limerick need to sort the pitch situation out...............
Agreed the pitch needs to be sorted, maybe if you spent less time following me around internet forums you could go up and do it yourself?Originally Posted by see's it

BTW without being a see's it style knob about the whole thing I reckon I'm as qualified as all, and a lot more qualified then most on here, to comment on the team![]()
do you have to be qualified to comment on the team? is that an A,B or C license you have?Originally Posted by Lim till i die

Yeah, but its sort of apposite that this weekend a discussion about football should get bogged down by a discussion about pitches and weather.Originally Posted by Lim till i die

[QUOTE=Westside]you can always go to a bogball gamethey'll play in any old $h1t,
are you saying that they play Gaa (Bogball) in **** pitches.....
maybe if you went to the grounds below you might stop talking sh*t
Gaelic Grounds
Bruff
Na Piarsigh
Claughan
even your near neighbours old chritians
all have far better facilities than lim's and they are only Amatuer clubs, not even in the highest level of their sports...they all own their own grounds as well dont have to go cap in hand to fr joe...... Concentrate our your own version of bogball(waterlogged pitch).
[QUOTE=leather]all said grounds in receipt of lottery funding and id question how good some of those pitches are that you mentioned having played on all of them. St patricks would be the best IMO. Limerick have never been given lottery funding to do up rathbane so ur point is mute. I can name many GAA grounds btw where games were called off last weekend alsoOriginally Posted by Westside

[QUOTE=leather]You start off talking about pitches and then go on about facilities. These clubs may have better facilities - certainly the Gaelic Grounds. You raise a good point though - maybe if Limerick stopped paying players and instead used all their gate money to fund the ground. Oh yeah - that might be a problem....Originally Posted by Westside
When you consider that the GAA charge into every mickey mouse junior B game but don't pay anyone or for anything, developing good facilities is easier.
Also, you cannot seriously say that football and bogball require similar standards from their pitches. While Limerick may not be a total football outfit - having a smooth run of teh ball on a bogball pitch is hardly important...

to lfc in exile..
imagine that a pitch is a facilitiy.(one of the most important).. not that important to lims , ball very seldom touches the grass. where does it say that lims have to pay the players...? i am not an apologist for the gaa but the gaa is an amateur organisation run professionally, how would you rate how loi div 1 is run..??.gaa clubs have massive expenses in running under age teams... that is were they spend a fortune , most loi clubs just let the local junior soccer clubs do this for them... massive expense put by lims into underage,,,, i think not.the likes of lims should look more at how the gaa runs its system and stop thinking that they can run it like england football system..

all the clubs mentioned put that money to improve their facilities which in most cases benefit the community and the huge amount of kids that play the games... haven't lim's 400k waiting to be drawn down from the N/L?? how will this money benefit the local area or the kids locally??? lims would prefer if the local club were ejected from hogan park...i'll give you the one about some of the picthes quality...O/C pitch is not good.... the rest are superior to hogan , i have also played on all, including hogan park.... how may national league (gaa) matches were called off last week???
[QUOTE=leather]. To answer your point, all the above clubs / grounds have been in existance for how long????? and as gael said, have been able to draw down on substantial funding from the lottery and other such like for many years now. Lim Fc on the other hand are just beginning their journey, and hopefully in the not too distant future we will have a ground and facilities that all Limerick people should be proud of. I have no problem with the GAA, yes they may run a professional outfit, but had a certain individual not bailed them out financially to the tune of 5 million for the facelift the Gaelic Grounds got a few years ago, then where would they be now(financially anyway). Another club you mentioned is considering selling up to a developer for around 9 million (thats if believe what you read in the papers) and good luck to them if they do. The Limerick County Board were also given a field in Rathkeale as a gift, they got funding to develop it and this is now known as "Mick Neville Park" and yes it is also far better than anything Lim Fc have at present, but its easy to do this when you get these things handed to you, and for fcuk all outlay.Originally Posted by Westside
If truth be told Soccer is probably the single biggest thorn in the Gaa's side at present. The South Dublin County Board tried to block the development of Tallaght (Sham. Rvrs) purely because they didn't wan't soccer to take off any higher in that area. Cork City in the early eighties tried to buy a field / stadium called "Flower Lodge", they could only come up with a deposit to hold it at the time, the Gaa got wind of it and bought the ground, and this was when the Cork County Board posted huge losses the previous year. This field is now known as "Pairc i Rinn".Soccer is on the up again in this country what with our league clubs doing well in the european competitions etc and they don't like it, the Gaa can get money from almost anywhere, Banks / Brewerys / Entreprenuers etc, that is what will, and until BIGOTRY leaves our shores, be always what seperates Gaa from Soccer.
