The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

"Drogheda Utd FC and property developer Bill Doyle are a step closer to building a new 10,000 seater football stadium.

Meath CC has confirmed it intends to grant permission for the project which also includes a retail park and a leisure centre.

The €30m development is planned for a 360 acre site in the south of Drogheda".

Would'nt be too sure of that. Only submissions/objections to the planning application was from a rival developer who is trying to shift some retail units a couple of km away from the new stadium site. Maybe he will go to An Bord Planeala as a delaying tactic until he gets up and running but surely ABP will see it for what it is.

Sure I'll just scoop out a crater in the middle of a field somewhere and call it one. Delighted if your petty nitpicking gets exposed for what it is in this case.

    Indeed.

Best of luck to Drogs, as I've always said, but there's a long way to go in this yet, it would appear. It's not as simple as ringing up another team and having Seery throw away more of his money on rent.

And if pointing out that losing a million a year isn't a viable business plan or wondering how you don't check what a piece of land was zoned for before making a planning application is "petty nit picking"...

    Eh...OK.

I'm sure Shels fans and Dublin City fans still think I was nit picking when, in fact, I was completely right.

But hey, what would I know? I challenge you to show me a post where I was nit picking on this issue.

What exactly was it you were right about Mystic Meg? I seem to remember Higgins handing your arse to you a few times when it came to Shels related matters.

You see the thing is, although your points are always structured and well thought out the fact of the matter is because you are not privvy to the inner workings of clubs like Shels, Dublin City or in this case Drogheda your points can't be taken as accurate. There was a lot going on at Shels, at the time, that you had no clue of, alot of which, made your points moot.

According to a councillor on langerweb, nothing could be done about rezoning the land until the council plannners approved the project. Thats why its only to be applied to be rezoned at next council meeting.

Btw if/when this stadium gets built ill happily dig up all your posts on it as yove being a complete d!ck about it from day one.

Though in saying that, ill hold off on that til the builders actually move in as we ain't there yet, just anoher obstacle we've got over
