BTW CTID did you see the recent reports that vinyl is making a big comeback?? Apparently the old vinyl factories are being expanded and new ones built to cope with the demand and most groups are now releasing on vinyl.
Also, the recent report that chemicals in the CD covers are seriously damaging the CD itself is another reason.
I could burn them on to CD for you the ones that I have that is.....

Muchos gratias about burning a CD - I have this image of a laser zzzzzapping a beam onto a disc in sci-fi fashion but I presume it's loading digital bits onto the CD or something.

    Really appreciate your kind offer.

Yep CTID - plenty on the web about them and that digital recording too - about half-way down the page.

Hey Noby - got your PM and sent you one back. Shakedown just lent me tweeters and a fcukin' groovy woofer and connected it to this little laptop of mine and, wow, does it rock. Beeslow will make the Richter Scale from tonight with a lotta heavy sounds . LOL
Jesus, that's a mountain of good stuff you burned - hope it didn't take too much of your time buddy

Muchos gratias amigo - let me know what you want and I'll be back to you.

Trouble is CTID, very few turntables seem to have good anti-skate devices like they used. I had one once with such a good a-s device that it would play over a ploughed field without skipping.

Hamish, I haven't forgotten about you. The weekend turned out to be more hectic than planned. Hopefully sort you out this evening/tomorrow.

No worries Noby - anytime you can send them is terrific - don't forget my offers too.

This is embarrasing. Remember Alcazar - the Swedish group?. They had a European hit with a combination of Genesis "Land of confusion" and Diana Ross's "Upside Down" last year which I hate to admit I liked. In fact, I even bought it from their website.

So embarrassing you said it twice?

I can't say I recall that song though.

    This the site Noby.

    http://www.alcazarworld.com/

Enter, then click on The Media Room, then videos, then "This is the world we live in".
Their other two hits are also on it, "Cryin' at the discoteque" and "Sexual Guarantee"

Alcazar had a hit written by ( Banks/Collins/Rutherford/Rodgers/Edwards).
Any song written by Genesis and Chic would be pretty special.
Crying at the Discotheque was also based on a number written by Chic for
Sheila B Devotion called " Spacer"

That's the one I mentioned above - it also contains part of Diana Ross's "Upside Down" - the Rodgers/Edwards bit - they wrote and produced Ross's song - it had that distictive Chic (remember them) sound. Rodgers and Edwards were a member of Chic - guitar and bass players and had a few hits, one being "Le Freak". Just the stuff CTID grooved to in his flared-pants, open, wide-collared shirt and shiny medallion days. LOL

That's right - BTW if you check out the video in the site above for the "Cryin' at the discotheque" you might recognise the "camerman" who also has a short talking part - I think he was in a Swedish dup who had a couple of hits in the late 80s or thereabouts - he had curly, long hair then and a lotta eye make-up but I can't recall the band-name.

Well let me see Chic also included Tawatha Agee , Fonzi Thornton on vocals and another woman whose name escapes me. All of the above featured on Roxy Music's Avalon Tour and Album as backing vocalists.
Tony Thompson the drummer died in 2003( also played on The Power Station album) and the two main men: Bernard Edwards was the bass player and Nile Rodgers on guitar. One of those two has also croaked but I cannot remember which

And Chic's " Good Times" 12 Inch single version was sampled by The Sugarhill Gang on one of the first Rap hit singles "Rappers Delight"

That's true CTID, there wasn't an actual "band" put together until he went out on tour to promote the album, I'm pretty sure they played the SFX here as part of that tour
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

The thread has actually gone full circle, and the Foo Fighters get a mention again.
