Aertel says Ports v Drogs has finish 0-0. Ports keep up their decent results against eL opposition.
Full time Cork City 2 Dungannon 0. Table is City 7pts, Drogs 4, Portadown 3, Dungannon 1

Cork look odds on for a semi final place. I have to say Dungannon were disappointing tonight, not that I thought they would win the match, but with Cork down to 10 men from 20 minutes in and after the start Swifts had, I thought then that they could well get something from the game.
Perversely the sending off of RO'D seemed to galvanise City and they scored two good goals.
On the sending off issue, I think the referee got it spot on. The first thing he did was to award a free kick to Cork and then he booked the Swifts player. Although the challenge was robust i would have thought he would be unlucky to get a red card for it. RO'D's reaction deserved the straight red card. This is a worrying tredn though if I were a City supporter. I remember O'D getting sent off last season for another act of petulance and he could have walked in at least another match for something similar.
In a way, he reminds me slightly of JPK from Bohs who also has bags of talent, but can loose the rag a bit quickly. Maybe it's just immaturity, but he'd want to grow up fairly quickly if he gets wound up as easily as that.
I got no lips I got no bones where there
were eyes there's only space
The guy who flew in got booked and the secong one came in and kicked him in the ribs. Thats the guy he went for and got sent off but the instigator didn't get a card. Strange. It just seems a tendendcy for the Northern teams to come and try to kick lumps out of us from the games I've seen. Portadown last year was a disgrace.
Just back from Shamrock Park and the refereeing there was terrible as well. A clear hand ball by a Ports defender as the ball was heading for goal and no penalty. Jason Gavin played the ball back to Connor with his thigh and the referee awarded a free inside the box - absolutely no back pass. Beginning to think even the IFA refs ae worse than ours.
He matured a lot over the past year but still has a way to go yet. Its the first time he's lost his temper in a while so he is working on it. Hopefully hel get that aspect of his game sorted out soon and fulfil his potential to become a great playerOriginally Posted by CharlesThompson

I was there too. Thought Drogheda absolutely blew it last night. Dominated possession and should have won. Superb save by Dan Connor and a late chance wa sall Ports had to show for a poor display. Drogheda's passing was excellent but no end product must be a concern.Originally Posted by iceman
I thought the ref did OK. Looked like Gavin kneed it back to the keeper which I think is not allowed. I didn't see the handball either.
Great noise from the Drogheda fans as they sang all night and not a peep out of the home support. I thoguht it was a very poor turnout though - only about 50 there.
can anyone post a link here to where I can find the tables, results and fixtures for the setanta cup?
Yeah we blew it. Still though we are second with 2 home games against Ports and Cork to come so I think we should make second place anyway.
We played well last night bar finishing. Barrett in his second full game had a blinder. If he keeps that up then he'll be a major player. Leech missed 2 great chances after coming on.
Ports were brutal and were no way in deserving of a draw. One chance they created which came from a lapse in our defence.
Saw the goals from langerland last night, and have to say it was a great strike by Georgie. He hit it sweetly.

another two poor results for IL sides last night. would take some very good results from the ports to make it through. Linfield really need to win to boost their chances and fly the flag for IL or else it will be a whitewash.

If City win in Dungannon a win for Drogs will ease make City 1st team in the semi final.
We were trying to think what Premier eL side Dungannon would be like & certainly they would struggle to not get relegated although their league record looks much better than away.
Dungannon had one or two good players, (e.g. McCabe) but Cork played them off the pitch all too easily.
This game showed the fundamental flaw in the Setanta setup. Four from north and four from south (including, er, one from north) is a nice touchy-feely equation for the peace process in Irish football, but in competitive terms it is just silly.
