Waste of a journey by the people on the Trust bus. Just as we arrived in Longford, it was announced, disgrace leaving it that late to call it off

Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
i'm sure the right decision was made about the pitch but it such a loada balls that there was no warning of an inspection at all during the day. it seemed like there was gonna even more rovers fans than i thought at the game and half of them will prob give up on the idea of goin to away games now. also a shame cos i defo taut rovers would get a result which would boost confidence for the tougher task of playin bohs. we've waited 6 season for premier division football i guess we'll just have to last another 7 days
"Even if the sun ceases to rise, Even if the sea ceases to flow, Even if the wind stops to blow, The name of Sligo Rovers will shine and shine forever like the morning, glinting star in the sky."
any ideas wen the game will be on? it was an absolute disgrace that the game wasnt called off earlier!!! surely the pitch wasnt playable at around 4-5 o'clock!? why wasnt it announced earlier?
actually it was deemed fit for play at 6:00 pm, but at 6:45 pm it was called offf
cos we both play on saturdays and the way the fixtures fall i'd say 27th or 28thOriginally Posted by feo123

Why couldn't they agree to play the game on Monday night ? That way both teams would have a few days before their next games.
With matches on Friday and Saturday of every weekend, there going to end up playing it on a Tuesday or Wednesday anyway.
I'm sure if the two clubs had agreed to Monday night that the league wouldn't have had any problem with it.
no there was a fella from the FAI there last night and he wanted it to be on monday but both managers didnt want that so it will be a midweek game in a week or two.
we will be playing a friendly v Harps on monday according to Sean
wen did he say that? where is it??
As expected, the game has been re-scheduled for the 27th @ 7:45pm

Last night,we were talking to him at Flancare...id say finn parkOriginally Posted by feo123
Don't understand why the clubs didn't agree to play on Monday. Longford would have had a break before playing Shels and we would have got the season up and running before the Bohs game.
The game has been fixed for Monday March 27th and that's 3 days after a trip to Derry and for Longford it is three days after an away game with Bray.
if flancare and finn park were waterlogged last night i dont think theyd be too good on monday so id say if were playin harps it will be at home
Chances are The Showgies is waterlogged at the moment too?Originally Posted by redtildead

Pain in the arse alright that it was called off after having travelled, but probably the correct decision if the pitch was in a bad way. It wasn't like the rain had just started though, surely Aertel should have had it that the game was going ahead subject to a pitch inspection or something like that. Typical though, we were listening to Today FM on the way up and they didn't even mention the EL fixtures on the sports at the 6 o'clock news, nothing but a phone-in about how bad Fulham were away from home and Everton's goals. The usual ignorance of the league by the media!
The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.

Roy Keane is still a pri*k!

Was talking to a few longford fans before the game and it transpires that the town end where the rovers fans were were going to be segregated is uncovered seats behind the goal , probably would still be drying out if the game went ahead.
