Thumbs up Man Utd Win Carling Cup

Delighted! good performance, all over once the 2nd goal went in! dissapointed Ruud didnt get on instead of one of the 3 that did come off the bench too. he deserved to play.....and he was visably raging! Wes Brown has shown why he has got in the england squad, won every header, every 50-50. he was brilliant!

Fourth time Paul Jewell has managed a team against Man Utd - and fourth time he's lost 4-0! Must hate the sight of them...

How the mighty have fallen? When you fall on hard times you'll cling to any crumb of comfort. There'll be an open top bus tour to celebrate this one i'd imagine!

Yeah I agree to an extent but I dont agree with your tone though. I think it does show how Man Utds expecations or focus has change due to the fact the midfieled is in transition. However with Chelsea winning the League and hopefully Barcelona winning the Champions League there is only really the FA Cup left for other team. It might be that other than Chelsea Man Utd are the only English team to win a trophy this season.

4 years ago ferguson wouldn't have p!ssed in the Carling cup, now he's doing a lap of honour with it . The senilaty (dodgy spelling?) must be setting in. He must have thought he'd won the champions league the way he was celebrating. Wonder if the scum fans still reckon its a joke cup like when Liverpool used to always win it?
I'd love to invent a time machine then go back in time and win the lottery, buy new players and a stadium. Time machines are brilliant aren't they- Ian Holloway

Lowest of all thropies united can win but still nice to win something at the end of the day. Was delighted for Saha, very good player IMO and hopefully gets a good run in the team now

Still is a joke cup, but wtf do people expect them to do? Not celebrate winning it? Interview I saw with Neville afterwards he said it was lowest priority but important to win something to hopefully get in the habit. Personally, I think they should've withdrawn from it after winning it in 92.

Well when they won it it was one of three cups they won in the same season just like in 1984 ok different trophies but still 3 makes a treble.

When Liverpool won the League Cup their fans were delighted but the point is Man U laughed at it and always did but now the times have changed i think that's the point being made and the truth is you had no interest in it not so long ago now it's a nice trophy to win which i suppose says it all when you read what you just said.

Carling Cup is not a Mickey Mouse competition. What it is is the lesser of the competitions. The object of a club is to win things. Therefore the following should be the objects of a Premiership team:

    (a) Win the Champions League (if in it)
    (b) Win the League
    (c) Win the Uefa Cup (if in it)
    (d) Win the FA Cup
    (e) Win the Carling Cup
    (f) Qualify for the Champions League (before someone says this should have a higher priority than (d) or (e), ask Everton fans which they would have preferred). Be knocked out early of the CL or win (d) or (e) ?. As a fan I'd sooner win something than merely partake in the CL and be knocked out early. The CL is held out like some holy grail - but if like Everton this season you're shown the door early, not much to get excited about there. Obviously if you guarantee you'll do well, it might appear ahead of (d) and (e).
    (g) Qualify for the UEFA Cup.
    (h) Avoid relegation.

Medals and trophies - that's what it should be about. Not TV revenue.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

No i think the reason most people laughed at it is Liverpool fans who called it the treble, when everyone knows that the real treble is the League, the FA cup and the european cup/champions leage.

I still have no interest in it (but it is good for the club to get back into winning ways, especially for the younger players), infact i have feck all interest in Man Utd these days what so ever, clubs who play the type of football taht the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Blackburn, Bolton etc..... just make it so hard to watch and enjoy....

    A treble is a treble.
