    Linfield boss slams Healy

Linfield manager David Jeffrey has hit back at criticism from former Derry City boss Felix Healy on Setanta Sports on Monday night. Healy slated the Blues’ display in the Setanta Sports Cup opener against Derry at Windsor Park.

But Jeffrey has lashed back at Healy, labelling him a “disgrace” and questioning his managerial record. Said the Blues boss: “Felix Healy is a disgrace. He slagged us off but what I would say is who was the last team that he managed and what did he last win?

Monday night was the best piece of telly all year. Felix was being stupid and David was right to go mad at him.

With all due respect to Jeffrey, I have never managed or played at any level and I reserve the right to slate or praise whoever I want as does Healy. It's petulent to make a personal attack on a pundit who criticises you.

Jeffries has never been ablke to handle defeat or criticism. As much as I and every single other City fan hates the ground Felix Healy walks on he was speaking the truth and Jeffries didn't like it because it showed the league he manages in and his team as inferior.

There is a lot of history going back many many years between Linfield and Felix. He has always overtly hated Linfield FC. I recall the 1982 Irish Cup final when Linfield scored 2 goals in the last 11 minutes to win 2-1. Felix's whinging after the game achieved legendary status up here.

It's not so much a question of over-reacting to criticism but it's fair to over-react to unfair criticism. Linfield had played well although they hadn't created many clear opportunities and, imo, a draw was a fair result but for Felix to come and say what he did would obviously **** off anyone.

Agree with you on the first point. Jeffrey has always been like that, bumming up his team's performances etc, but to be fair, he is a decent gaffer and has done well for the Blues, particulary this year.

On the other hand, Healy is a tosser as well with a chip on his shoulder and between the two of them, you would not have a hope in hell of getting the truth.

Finally, please shut your arrogant gob up. Linfield won the Setanta last year and proved themselves and the top of the Irish League is on a power with your Eircom league - which, may I add, is not exactly Barcley's Premier League standard itself.

Your team got trounched by $hels over two legs in Europe and Linfield's victory was a fluke as results so far this year seem to be showing. And round and round we go........

Our team were annhilated by Shels because we were 1) as a part time club had players off on holiday 2) had one or two injuries 3) look at our current season to date with the fantastic training methods that Tommy Kincaid brought the club.

Our season has been ****e this year, Shels in this year's Setanta have not been the only club to pummle us as they did.

Linfield drew 1-1 with your club. They didn't play great the first half, the second half was pretty even. Not only that, Linfield, Glentoran, Portadown and Dungannon are part time teams playing on a Saturday, then on a Monday or Tuesday night. On the otherhand, you are all full time teams (or in Derry City case, all borrow a player or two) rested.

Also, who are those four playing each week? Ards, Institute... they are hardly tough matches commanding you to be sharp on the ball.

I would love to see the Glens at their best and a fully rested Linfield play any team from the Eircom league. I don't think there'd be too much of a difference.

Yeah so you are inferior then?

Please accept that we are not full time it's becoming tediously repetitive now.

You had an oppurtunity to play $hels in your pre-season. You get mauled. You had an oppurtunity to play $hels in season and you got mauled. If an el team wins the Setanta cup for the next 10 years it will be still be subject to excuses galore.

So, when Shels are in season and you are out of season, and you lose, it's a problem?

When Glens are in season and Shels are out of season, and you lose again, its also an unfair scheduling problem?

When would you like to play us so? We've written off July and February. Two down, 10 to go...

And we beat you at your own ground when both teams were playing during their season.

We have had four games against southern opposition in the past year or so, two home, two away which have resulted in one defeat, one draw and two wins so you saying our win against Shels was a fluke is downright disrespectful and complete nonsense.

I have to agree with David here. While I would like to think that the eircom league is much better, the results are inconclusive. We've only had about 12 months of games, and I don't think either side can draw many conclusions.

The one thing it probably is possible to say is that the eircom League probably has more strength in depth. Linfield (W2 D1 L1) Glens (1-0-4*) and Portadown (1-3-1) would probably fit into the top half of the eL quite easily, but below that I think that the eL has better teams (Bohs, Pats, Longford, etc.)

[*just realised how bad the Glens record has been against eL teams in the past year, but the other two compensate. W-D-L figures are what I can remember in Setanta and Europe this season and last.]

I would agree with this and have said numerous times in the EL forum that the EL has more strength in depth but there is nothing between the top teams in the two leagues.
