All in all its a fantastic occasion and as a Shels fan i look forward to heading up to Windsor and to the Oval. And expect NO trouble what so ever just like June 13th when i was at the Cl game
Buses carrying Derry City players and supporters were attacked by stone-throwers as they made their way home following last night's 1-1 Setanta Sports Cup draw with Linfield.

Take it this happened in the Newbuildings area of Derry?

Aye Newbuildings. My Da says they were seen out waiting for hours not sure when the buses would be back. ****ing arseholes.
I just hope someone takes control of the route from the brandywell back for Glens and the Linfield buses. It's not the fans that cause the trouble just arseholes with too little braincells and too much time on their hands....
yeah but Shels don't carry half as much baggage as Derry. Remember the Linfield bus being stoned in Derry at the last FriendlyOriginally Posted by Mark Breen

We've been attacked at Newbuildings on numerous occasions. Maybe we "carry as much baggage" as Derry or maybe there's just a load of little scroats living there.Originally Posted by Dodge

I completely agree with you there. And as i said, I’m looking forward to heading up.Originally Posted by Dodge
surely there is an alternative route which would stop this crap from happening again?
Correction needed here lads, wasnt Newbuildings any of this happened
happened at Drumahoe village and at Altnagelving Roundabout in derry itself
the derry fans wouldnt have been anywhere near Newbuildings as its on the strabane road not the belfast road

You'd think so....
OR perhaps the Police could pull their fingers out and do something about it, instead?
Probably thought you were Celtic fansOriginally Posted by WeAreRovers

It happened at Drumahoe, near to Institute's Ground, and at Altnagelvin near to irish Street.
Nothing to do with Football, so I wouldn't give it the publicity it craves.

no reports of any injuries thankfully
The atmosphere at the game last nite was excellent
only a handful of idiots giving nazi salutes and singing songs about bloody sunday, the vast vast 99.99% of linfield fans were excellent, as was the derry singing

Between 700-1000 City fans travel to Windsor and sing our hearts out for 90 minutes which to my surprise even got a round of applause from the Kop for our rendition of Teenage Kicks. Very little sectarian rubbish from Linfield fans. No problems in Belfast. BUT still the media will focus on what is an eventuality in the 6 counties.
Few radio stations having phone-ins relating to the buses, I really hope they are inundated with people who don't share in their sensatrionalist agenda.
"The Derry fans were fantastic in both matches. They sang their hearts out all the time and created an even better atmosphere than the Cup Final. They were brilliant. - David Graham, Gretna striker
Heard the applause on Setanta alright, unxepected.Originally Posted by Speranza

*HEAD EXPLODES* Pat Kenny the tool of a man, on with des Cahill talking about the "stoning". The stupid fool was trying to overshadow what was a tremendous night on the island for football. He was trying to goud Des into saying something about it. Reality was anyone passing there would of probably been stoned!!!

If you drove a southern reg bus through the same area tomorrow night i'm guessing good chance that would be stoned too?
City fans were treated brilliantly by Portadown FC last night. In their club bar pre match & halftime, full access to the ground & absolutely no trouble wahtsoever. Minimal security & no need for escorts or anything.
The Glens have no problems in the brandywell, they even drove through the town last time they were here.Originally Posted by Skunkito
I think (sadly) most of us have been on buses which have been on the receiving end of stones thrown by little scumbags - it happens everywhere. Typical sensationalist media trying to make a story out of nothing when the real story - great atmosphere from all sides at football match - isn't interesting enough for them.
