Yep, A brief and unsuccessfull experiment in getting students to attend games.Originally Posted by NY Hoop
When we had the lights installed back in 1991. We first of all experimented with Saturday nights to play . This was an attempt to attract as many neutrals as possible to see us play. Every Saturday we were scheduled to play it bucketed rain. So the crowds were dismal.Originally Posted by Bald Student
We then tried Thursdays, to attract more students.Again the students failed to show up in any significant numbers, as they have failed to do traditionally since we entered the League in 1979.
Eventually in 1994 we settled on a combination of 3:15 Sunday kick-offs and the odd weekday game to accomodate our Dublin rivals and anyone else within easy reach of the capital ( which that season would have been Drogheda, Bray and Kilkenny). Then we settled on Fridays mainly which is what we have been doing for the past 4-5 seasons.
Hey, it had us a point clear at the top of the laegue for one day, and I still have a copy of that league table!Originally Posted by NY Hoop
