Millar looking forward to Glentoran task

New Glentoran manager Paul Millar is looking forward to the challenge offered by one of the most pressurized positions in football north of the border. Former Newry City chief Millar was confirmed as the successor to Roy Coyle on Tuesday, sparking criticism from his former club.

While Glens’ league crown is on its way to arch-rivals Linfield, the Oval side will be keen to restore some pride in the remainder of the season, with second place in the Carnegie Premier League and a sustained run in both the Nationwide Irish Cup and the Setanta Sports Cup, which begins on Monday next (February 20th).

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Millar has only been on the block for 4 months (Newry City, but with also a couple of years coaching where he gained his European 'A').

Not my first choice for manager but he played for the club in the 1980s (as an 18yr old, he scored a last minute winner in the Irish Cup Final), so he'll have an expectation of what's required on the terraces.

Has given the whole place a boost - a timely one with Tolka looming on Monday.
The only Irish club to win a European trophy.
