Setanta Sports Cup launched for 2006

The formal launch of the Setanta Sports Cup took place in Belfast today and was performed by Right Honourable Lord Mayor of Belfast Cllr Wallace Browne.
Already announced for the coming campaign are a series of community exchange programmes as the organiser attempt "to further enhance the bonds formed during the 2005 competition".

The programme kicks off with the Drogheda United v Dungannon Swifts match at United Park on the opening night of the tournament (Monday, February 20th). The Football Association of Ireland is providing transport and complimentary tickets for up to 40 children (plus adult supervisors) to attend the Group A match at United Park.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

How does this year's tournament kick-off with the Drogheda v Dungannon 'meeting of the minnows' game ? Does that start earlier than the other games that night ?

Olly was afraid that if too many kid's tickets were given out for free, there'd be no-one to watch Shels.....

Sorry ndrog - but when it comes to this year's Setanta Cup, Drogheda and Dungannon are the smallest clubs from each side of the border in it. There's no denying that. Winning a trophy doesn't change that fact,

I think they meant the cross border kids programme kicked off with the Dungannon v Drogs game (2 clubs close enough to each other & no history of animosity) in case any trouble?
