Longford Town and Sligo Rovers get underway in the Premier divison tonight, the last two teams to kick-off in the top flight. It may be a difficult season ahead for both clubs so a good first result will do the world of good.
Longford Town vs Sligo Rovers
(Flancare Park - 7:30 pm - eircom League Premier division)
Referee: Alan Kelly
Longford Town managed fifth place last season but it was far from a good season as rumours of dressing room bust-ups and lacklustre performances prevailed. The lowest scoring team last term with last a goal a game, they will be hoping for better this time out.
Robbie Martin is set to make his competitive debut for the Town and some of the onus will be on him to bag a goal or two.
Sligo make their return to the top flight and manager Sean Connor has invested in a number of full-time professionals. Based on the numbers, Sligo will be looking for a good finish but trips to the likes of Longford will be where they make or break their season.
Connor will hope to call from a full strength squad.
Previous meeting(s) : Sligo Rovers 0-2 Longford Town (21/06/2005)

Its been raining pretty heavily here for a good while now, anyone hear if the match could be cancelled?
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.
