PICK HARPS’ JERSEY FOR 2006!

By CHRIS MC NULTY

Finn Harps Football Club are offering the club’s loyal supporters a chance to pick the jersey that the Ballybofey-based club will wear for the 2006 season, as they launched their jersey vote yesterday morning.
The club have released four possible choices: Two blue and two white, with the closing date for voting set at next Monday, February 13th.
It has been suggested that many of the club’s older generation of loyal followers will lean towards the white version, as that was Harps’ colours when they first entered League of Ireland, back in 1969.
The Finn-siders also wore an all-white strip when they clinched their first, and to date only FAI Cup success in 1974, when they defeated St Patrick’s Athletic.
The new, younger generation of supporters, are reported to be keen on the blue kit. The term ‘Blue and White Army’ has become synonymous with Harps in recent times and many feel that the blue variety, with a degree of white is the way to go.
Harps Director, Trevor Gordon, who launched the jersey vote, said that the club would like supporters to not only indicate their preferred design, but also the preferred colour.
“In light of the speculation on the street and on the web about the colour and design of our jerseys for next season we are putting the options to the vote. There are two main designs, with the option of mainly white or mainly blue for the home shirt. We'd like people to vote on their favourite design and also indicate their preference for a white or blue home shirt regardless of the winning design” he said.
The vote has been limited to the choice of the home jersey, as the club has already decided on their away kit for the 2006 season.
Refusing to divulge any secrets that would give away the design of the second kit, Trevor Gordon said that a surprise would be in store for Harpers.
“We've already decided on a special away kit, which as yet remains top secret, but all will be revealed closer to the start of the season. Watch this space!” was Trevor’s reaction when pressed on the issue.
To vote, fans are asked to email their choice to jerseyvote@finnharps.com. Votes will also be taken via text message to 087-2861557.
Votes will be accepted up until noon on Monday.
