    Official New Fixtures 2006

Media Statement re 2006 season eircom League Fixtures:

At its meeting last night (Feb 8th), the eircom League Board of Control decided that a provisional fixture list for the 2006 eircom League season (Premier and First Division) will be presented for approval at the next meeting of the League's Management Committee which takes place next Monday, February 13th in the Boardroom, FAI, 80 Merrion Square, Dublin 2 at 5pm.

The implementation of the provisional fixture list will be contingent upon the successful outcome of Longford Town's currently ongoing appeal to the FAI Club Licensing Appeals Body.

You would if they had stuck with the 10 team premier instead of the 12 team crap.

At least we're going to be touring Ireland twice

You'll be away twice to Derry as we away twice to you last season. The way the fixtures work out is whoever you played at home twice last season you are away twice to this season and vice versa. It also means that Derry have 17 home games this season as opposed to 16 last season.

    Correct.

isn't 13 Feb a bit late to have provisional fixtures. Surely they should have had them ready pre licencing ready-to-go so to speak?

This was discussed on here a while ago and I thought it was the general consensus that the fixture's would be randomly selected again, has there been a development/ announcement on this?

I haven't heard an announcement but the general rule will be as I said. Derry missed out last season on having 17 home games so they have to have 17 home this season. Also we travelled to Cork twice last season so we will have Cork at home twice this season. This has to be the rule for this season's fixtures or it would be unfair on a few teams not just Derry.

Stupid system which leads to lopsided fixture list

What about the teams that were promoted so? Do we just take the teams that were relegated place then?.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

That's how it worked in the past anyway.

Edit: What a waste of my 5000th post.

Harps had 17 home games & Rovers have 16 so Sligo or Dublin City will fill those spots

The fixtures are usually easy to predict.

As out first game lasy season was away to Finn Harps we most likely to be at home to Sligo/Home Farm & more likely Sligo.

I hope we have Shels at home 1st. Full house at the Cross to start the season off. Nothing better.

Your opening home game against us last year was a pratical sell out. The game finished 1-1 i believe ....

When were the fixtures "randomly selected"?
With all the ground sharing in Dublin, certain teams must be "away" when others are at "home." When all these factors must be considered, the fixtures can't be ramdom.
The only thing random about them is when they're released.

afaik each team has an 'opposite' when it comes to fixtures which means that two nearby clubs are never at home the same weekend. when both ourselves and craptown were both in the premier, i think you'd find that we were never both at home for the same round of fixtures.

It would also mean there is no problems with ground-sharing clubs for fixture purposes.
