Scored a blinder for reading last night. I like to think I'm up to date on a lot of the Irish lads in englands top 2 tiers but i have to admit i had never heard of this lad being irish until last night!!!
TV 3 said hes from waterford, the metro this morning says laois. Saw an interview with him on sky last night and he has THE strangest accent. i thought there was some irish in there but also a lot of english so i just dismissed him.
Dont even know where he plays for reading or where his natural position is/age etc. i have a feeling he might be ex eircom league and if thats the case please, eircom heads, dont have a go cos i know zip about our own league.
Apologies if dicussed already but any info would be good.

He's a solid player and fairly quick.
The sort of player i'd love to see on the left wing for City.
Don't reckon he'd be upto international standard at all though.
think he's 27/28.

he is 25, noels brother and from waterford. signed for reading from brentford and previously played for palace. he has also appeared at ireland u-21 level. he plays on the left wing but can also opperate as a center forward.
best of luck to him. if/when reading go up next year it will hopefully give another couple of irish lads a crack at the big time in england.

He used to play for Brentford. He's a useful midfielder who has in the past had a knack for banging in a few goals. Fairly skillful but not international standard IMO. He's not even a regular for Reading. Convey keeps him out of the team.

Also of Irish interest last night: Marcos Painter & Alex Bruce for BCFC, Stack & Shane Long obviously but of particular note was Conor Sinnott on the bench for Reading. According to a thread on this forum he's on an extended trial from Bray. Like Long, he'd done little of note at club level to get noticed as he's only played a small number of senior games. Staunton should have appointed Coppell as advisor - he seems to know more about irish footballers than anyone.
Clinton Morrisson seems to be going backwards at a rate of knots at Palace. Not even in last night's squad.
Yeah..He is 24 and going by last nights performance I think he has a chance if he can keep his place at Reading.One thing for sure he does not give up too easily.He chased that ball up and down the pitch all evening and appears to have bags of energy.He also scored a lovely goal.He was the best Reading player out there last night
good stuff. at 24 its probably not too late, but then if he is a fringe player then maybe he is punching above his weight. still cant believe i didnt know about him. watched a bit of that match last night and long barely got a kick.

Marcos Painter is a good strong defender and is one for the future.Shane Long did nothing to suggest that he is but then again he is young and a little light.Yes i agree with you ST88 , Morrisson is going down hill rapidly and has being for a while now. He has never really been the same since he hurt that shoulder.

See who he muscled out of the way for the goal - none other than the recently declared Irishman, Alex Bruce. To be fair to the latter he had a reasonable game but he still treats the ball at his feet like a hot cake to be got rid of anywhere asap.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
Fair question. I guess it comes down to a love of all international football only. I would only watch the english premiership if there was irish interest in the match.
The only time I ever half supported an english team was when villa had 5 or so irish lads in their great team of the early 90s. I like to see english clubs with irish players doing well-only reason i was hoping for a Reading win last night.
I think the main reason I have no interest or knowledge in/of the EL is because rarely does an EL player ever get a look in with the national team. I think there would be others who only write on this board with the same view maybe? perhaps a topic for discussion on its own

Watched Hunt for Reading last night & whereas he took his goal very well thought he overall play was fairly poor. Lost the ball too easily in possession & just not physical enough. On this evidence of one game no chance at international football & not good enough for Reading bench next season.

If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.
Noel scored for Dunfermline last night in their 2-2 draw with Inverness
he has tended to pick up too many injuries though. even when he was with rovers he was fairly injury prone. when he went to the pars he had a host of problem including a broken bone in his lower leg (i think) which took a long time to heal. noel is a great guy and deserves his chance, he just needs to stay fit to make a proper go of it.
