if anyone is still looking for cheapish flights, a mate booked stansted to stuttgart,out sat morn 7.55 return mon evening for £127stg, ryanair flights from Dublin on the fri evening start at €9.99. Overnight fri in radisson at stansted airport. Not bad prices booking this late.

Most of decent places are gone but I know a few have rooms for the weekend still - one mad place they offered me though was some kind of evangelist retreat! german is rusty but there was stuff like "looking after old people and sick people".... not that ideal i'd say!
I booked through the german rail website while i was booking train tickets into stuttgart they showed loads of available rooms throughout stuttgart, and i got a room near by the ground/just over the river for 50 yoyos a night

Well considering that I'll be driving down from Brussels on the Saturday morning, I very much care. If the kickoff is at something stupid like 12.00pm I'll have to be on the road from about 4 or 5 and that's something I'd rather not have to do.
the hardship is part and parcel of the whole thing - not many supporters do it the easy way!!!some people will be sleeping in airports/train stations etc and busing and training it from all over the place!
are you living in Brussels or renting a car from there? If you live there why not head down friday night - the night before game is always a good one! (is it about a 5 hour journey? - might be way off)
few hotel offers i was sent on - single rooms are about 70 euro a night - suppose there is cheaper - might be of interest though cause i reckon they'll be booked up soon.

Nah a friend lives there. The original plan was to head down on the Friday night but now we can't (long story). Should book your tickets now if anybody plans on getting the train to stuttgart. Just booked Frankfurt Airport to Stuttgart theyre...its €98 return if you turn up on the day and I just booked 2 of us for €73.50 total!!! Handy spare beer money!!

In fairness the kids are back to school the next week and the wife loves Germany. We normally do Thursday to Sunday which is what we have booked for Cyprus. Dont think im booking a hotel for Cyprus after last year, very expensive, worked out about €100 per hour for the amount of time sppent in it!!
More importantly did you reserve seats on the train along with booking the tickets?

www.hrs.de for hotels ... there were some half decent places available 2-3 weeks ago, might have to settle for something on the outskirts tho. im the stuttgart fan that tipped off junior re: the tickets, btw ... so if anyone is looking for help, gimme a shout.
as far as kickoff time goes ... germany home matches rarely kick off before 5pm ... i guess its gonna be something between 6 and 8pm
Could have...opted not too it was a bit more expensive and the journey is only 1 hr 13 mins!!! I'm going on Thursday so i'm not worried...i've been standing on these ICE babies before and the bar is quite roomy!!!!

I haven't lived there for a few years, but what I can tell you is that Stuttgart is a very pleasant, but small city. The main area is Königstrasse which is directly from the Hauptbahnhof (central station). There is one pretty big main square, the Schlossplatz. Celtic gathered there when we played them and they also put up some big screens for people to watch the WC matches. They´ll pull the fences and the big screens down after the WC tho.
Stuttgart as a city, well ... you have to live here to enjoy it and find the nice sides, but if you´re only here for a few days you´ll most likely enjoy it. They actually even stained the running track green ...

I´d expect Biddy Early´s to be way, way, way overcrowded ... better have a plan b ready as getting in there on that weekend is gonna be a nightmare. Sophie´s Brauhaus next door has been VERY popular with travelling football fans. There´s another bar called O´Reilly´s, but it´s way smaller than Biddy Early´s ... on the other hand, why gather at Irish bars? It´s not like you don´t have that back at home, so try some of the local brews and bars.
