I was in Teplice a few years back and I can safely say it is the deadest place I have ever been to so my advice is to stay in Prague, that's what I'll be doing anway. It's a health spa town so they get a lot of elderly German tourists there for health reasons. It's easy enough to get to so I wouldn't be concerned about transport to and from the game.Originally Posted by Forever Dreamin

Just looking at a map of Central Europe there - you could really go on a proper tour if you wanted...
Wednesday - fly Dublin-Vienna (Austria)
Thursday - Vienna to Budapest (Hungary) (100 miles)
Friday - Budapest to Bratislava (Slovakia) (95 miles)
Saturday - Match in Trnava (20 miles away)
Sunday - Bratislava to Auschwitz/Oswiecim (Poland) (150 miles)
Monday - Auschwitz to Prague (Czech Republic) (100 miles)
Tuesday - Prague to Teplice (40 miles)
Wednesday - Match in Teplice
Thursday - Teplice to Dresden (Germany) (20 miles)
Friday - Dresden to Berlin (100 miles)
Sunday - fly Berlin-Dublin
Six countries in one trip, and cheaper flights in and out 'cos you're not going via the countries we're playing.
What's the story with speed limits in Europe? Is it only in France and Germany there's no speed limits on the motorways? Even at 50 mph average, you're talking no more than three hours' travel for any one trip.

The rugby World Cup in France is on around that time as well. You only miss one of Ireland's rugby games if you go to the 2 football matches in Teplice and Prague.Originally Posted by pineapple stu
The match is in Tranava or something like that not in Braislave. It's about 32km away!
Nuts to that - can't stand rugby!Originally Posted by Paulie
Good call (it's Trnava). About the same distance from Budapest but 20 miles nearer Auschwitz. Though Bratislava's supposed to be a nice city, so could always stay there and pop out to Trnava for the match.Originally Posted by Forever Dreaming
Fair enough, whatever floats your boat. Football is definitely the priority between it and rugby but I'll still be looking into getting over to Bordeaux after the games in Teplice and Prague are over to catch some of the World Cup.Originally Posted by pineapple stu
No game in Prague, don't forget. Wrong country entirely! (Trnava and Teplice)
Ah yes, you've passed my test of your observational skills. Well done....ahem.Originally Posted by pineapple stu
THe rugby matches are Ireland versus African qualifier on Sun 8th September and Ireland versus the third European qualifier on Saturday 15th September. Both games in Bordeaux.Originally Posted by Paulie

Czech rail.
Journey from Prague to Teplice looks like it's about two hours, which is more than I thought it'd be. About 200Kc, which is a fiver, I think. Regular trains again - every couple of hours.
Are these two games def on in Teplice and Tvarna. Have accomm booked in Prague, Bratislava and Tvarna(in case its there). Can cancel up to 24 hrs.
are the games not on in prague and bratislava? ryanair are doin nice cheap flight to bratislava if i'm not wrong
Nope, Teplice and Trnava.
seems quite a distance from teplice to prague...
transport links dont look great either...(trying to make sense of the railway links given above)
I'm on the Czech Airlines flight into Prague on Wednesday morning. I'll be picking up a rental car to drive to Teplice. PM me if you're interested in a lift and contributing to the cost. My mates are staying out for the week subject to the All Ireland final pairing.
Not sure if I'm coming back or not as I'm either driving on to Berlin to fly home Thursday morning or back Friday from Prague.
