O’Connor happy with Athlone start
New Athlone Town manager Michael O’Connor expressed his satisfaction with his side’s performance in Saturday’s friendly defeat at the hands of neighbours Longford Town in the Shane Brennan Memorial game at Flancare Park.
Two penalties from Dessie Baker paved the way for Longford’s win, but O’Connor – who took over from the departed John Gill during the winter months – was encouraged by the performance of his new-look side.
