    Australian visas?

howdy! i'm thinkin of heddin off to Oz to work for a year, problem is ive already done that as a backpacker so i'm wonderin if anyone knows how i can go about gettin sponsorship or some sorta work visa. is there any agencies or anything likethat in dublin that i can go to to sort this?
    all feedback appreciated!
You gotta do what Randall Pink Floyd wants to do man. Let me tell you this, the older you do get the more rules they're gonna try to get you to follow. You just gotta keep livin' man, L-I-V-I-N.

go on a 3 month holiday visa and look for work and try and get sponsored.
think you can apply to the australian embassy for permanent working visa. if you have certain skills/trade and want to live in one of the smaller cities you have a good chance. think you can do a form in online and it will tell you if you qualify.

    Pedro,

Did you work on a farm / fruit-picking or in the country anywhere for 3 months when you were there before? The reason is that you can now get an extra 1 year visa. They are issuing 2 years visas for back-packers now but have included this proviso for people who have been before.

Failing that get a job before heading over or do as Klein says.

I know of a person who doesn't need to be named but he renewed his passport and used his Irish name. Nothing wrong with that as he wasn't trying to con the passport office. As far as they're concerned his Holder number is the same but he's known by a different name.

Here's the naughty bit. When he applied for another working holiday visa, he said he'd never applied before/never been in Australia before. His Irish name wasn't on their records so they processed his application.

    Worked a treat.

That was a few years ago so I'm not sure if things have tightened up now.

My Irish Passport has my name on it in Irish, but at the very back of the passport there is information saying what your name is on your birth cert. So Peadars mate was a lucky boy that he wasn't twigged.

Have you got one of the new passports with the plastic covers?
No where on my mates passport did it mention his birth cert name.
The only thing that was the same on both passports was his holder number.
The only people he could have been in trouble with was the Australian visa people.

The passport office have copped on to that one.

Back to the original question go to the states as you've already been to oz. You'll make more money and you'll meet a better class of people.

Highly debateable. I've lived in New York and Melbourne and the class of people in Oz wiped the floor with that of the US.

    There's no copping onto anything.
The passport office identify you from your birth cert and assign you a "Holder" number. Regardless of how you identify yourself, you'll always have the same holder number and therefore they'll always know who you are.

It's not uncommon in Ireland for a father and son to have the same name. In many cases, the son would be known by another name such as his middle name. That name could appear as his name on his passport.

Changing your name to Irish is not unlawful or a problem for the Passport office. They're far too busy dealing with actual fraud.

You'd need to work in the passport office if you're going to convince me that you're right.

You'd be amazed how well foreigners react when I tell them my name. Even the Dubs seem to find it unusual enough to be interesting.

I'd never get my name changed to Peter though. Too many of them about. This bloody site is full of them.
