    Stadiums In Ireland

I was just having a look at the plans for LR again and something struck me. Are we not capable in this country of building a stadium with 4 sides of equal height!!!??

I also notice the way the exterior of the new LR will look like the Allianz arena in munich - ie transparent. Wouldn't it be great if they illuminate it green in the same way on match days?

By the way - the thoughts of being at a packed Croke Park when the teams come out for the game against Germany would give you goosebumps!!!

AFAIK The reason why one end is lower is to facilitate those living next to LR i.e. it won't block out the sunlight.

I dont think so as four sided stadiums really struggle with natural sunlight getting into areas of the pitch esp the wings and corners etc so one end not as hight as the others allows natural sunlight to to get to all areas of the pitch.

maybe in the future the FAI and IRFU could buy out those houses and complete the stadium all the way around. It might take a very long time to do that but it would be great if they could.

Hard to see it. It's reported in our local press here in Limerick that some neighbours of mine are to recieve three times the market value of their homes to allow the IRFU expand Thomond Park. I'm delighted for them incidently and I'm glad the IRFU and the Munster Branch finally copped on just exactly who's doing who a favour here.

But now up the economies of scale if you were attempt such an upgrade at LR and it becomes apparent we'd have to qualify for several world cups to pay for that alone.
