Frankly, I'd be a bit wary of an American description of my politics - their "left" is deep on the right IMO. For example, the pope comes somewhere between Republican and totalitarian. That's right, the pope has posthumously joined the Republican party.

Also, the default buttons in the "strongly agree" option would skew any results.

They really do have a fundemental lack of understanding of the word totalitatian alright. Fascism is tucked off as something seperate to it. In Politics I was taught that only the Nazi and Soviet states fit the definition of totalitarian.

Also with a question along the lines of "Do you think that the life of an American is worth the lives of several foreigners?" it has to be taken with a grain of salt.

I can live with that as it would no doubt stick Bush in there along with the other right-wing expansionists.

I was a democrat too which to be honest doesn't mean a huge amount. Try this one I found it slightly more meaningful. I was Economic Left/Right: -6.13 and Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.38
