    Kearney - what has happened?

So, any news on Kearney? Did he go to Shels/go to Holland/stay at City?

Lots of rumours and conjecture, as usual, but no firm facts.

According to the Heerenveen fansite they offered 5,000 euro compensation to Cork City and Lennox told them where to stick it.

In fairness, even the Heerenveen fans were complaining about their board being tightfisted - they just got nine million euros after selling Huntelaar to Ajax. Some of the fans wanted to organise a whip round to take the pis$ out of the board.

    Liam Kearney

Lads, Liam Kearney it seems doesn't want to play for City anymore, thats the bottom line ... and end of, case closed.

Shels AFAIK dont want to pay any compensation to City for Kearney on top of his wages so it is a posiblity that he might not sign for Shels afterall and we are led to believe there is not going to happen in Holland for Liam.

Has Liam burnt a bridge with City ..... has he behaved unprofessionally and limited his options (bear in mind City did everything to keep him there and never closed the door on him, its still open) at the expense of his playing career ? (if no one is prepared to sign him that is)

I think the guy or the people who 'represent' him have been very foolish and have not acted properly by Liam. It seemed to even get personal (again, not Citys actions, it was always business with the club) and it hasn't worked in Liams favour (imo)

What do ye think ?? This interview with Rico and Red FM can be found on the official Cork City FC website where he speaks about Liam and his relationship with the club.

Based on what we've heard i'd agree with all you said there.

Could listen to Rico all day. Always worth listening to. Never gives the football cliches.

I'll have to listen to that interview someother time as the internet cafe doesnt have earphones

I think Kearney is after being a very silly boy and probably a bit poorer after not getting payed for 2 months. I dont think that he's worth it for Shels as they would have to give him a substantial pay rise from City just to make up the cost of living in Dublin + they would have to pay City comensation which Im sure they would rather avoid, especially as it can now be argued that eL players are more valueable now adays after Doyle and Byrnes transfer sagas. But what Shels are prob really asking themselves is would Kearney make them a better team? They already have a raft of players who can play left wing, Kearney has never stood out against Shels + he only got 4 goals last year if Im not wrong!

The best advice I could give Kearney is to get a better advisor!

I reckon there's a big chance the Shels move won't materialise, especially if City are looking for €50,000.
Even a tribunal could easily arrive at that figure.

Kearney could be homeless come the first game of the season.

Daddy Kearney better start writing those letters to Mansfield and Rushden & Diamonds
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

It is a shame when you think of it.

I find the whole Kearney thing a bit baffling. I'm not trying to be funny here, but why would a local lad want to go to Dublin when he could stay at home and play for the champions in front of much bigger crowds? Have Shels offered him a load more money? Do they really pay that much more than City? Or did he just burn his bridges over the Dutch deal and have nowhere else to go?

AFAIK Rico would have taken him back but maybe Kearney family pride getting in the way. O'Flynn is older so maybe more mature to cut his losses & return home. It would be the same in any non-football job.
