In favour
Meh
Against but would probably still go to matches

Who are voting yes?? Not many have said they are and why. Are they scared of expressing their opinions?

Galway fans, people the FAI have sufficiently confused and possibly some FAI handle as well. Shame it's not an open poll.Originally Posted by Magicme

We don't have the details of what is being proposed, the franchising talk is scaremongering by those who will refuse to endorse any strengthening of infrastructure and other requirements.
Smoke and mirrors on both sides.......
What are the "other" requirements? It's the FAI that are putting out critea based on marketability and potential and regional diversity. There are not even minimum standards for clubs to achieve - only talk of rankings only partly based on finishing positions. Insist on clubs getting the appropriate licence, after that it has to be based on football. If not it is franchise football. Speaking as a fan of a club that would probably meet the infrastructure requirements and location.Originally Posted by OneRedArmy

We have quite clear indications of what's being proposed from the article in the Irish Independent. Anyone who's involved with a club or talked to someone involved with a club (myself included) is saying that it's accurate. There is mention of teams having to apply for membership, of teams being accepted not by where they finish on the pitch but by where they are in the country and by how many fans they have and of the FAI taking full control of the league and appointing whoever they want to run it. Does this fill you with confidence?Originally Posted by OneRedArmy
My own self-interest? What utter rubbish.
If the league had been run properly in the first place, then this whole concoction wouldn't be necessary or even mentioned.
What's to say this won't be a **** up as well
I vote no but still go to matchs, lesser supported clubs like County, Limerick, Dublin City etc, could get kicked out of the league
I can see why Dublin City and UCD fans would be against it. No fans, in a city with too many clubs as it is. - I'm all for it!!! Teams like Limerick and Galway have nothing to fear due to their locations.Originally Posted by pineapple stu
I've always believed that there are too many clubs in Dublin and it's about time the needless ones were weeded out.
Kildare County,
UCD,
Monaghan United,
Bray(possibly),
Finn Harps(possibly too),
Dublin City.
Obviously theirs more too but they'd be the obvious ones that wouldn't "make the cut" in my opinion anyway.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

Dublin has one-third of the population in Ireland.
Maybe you should complain about the disproportionate representation from Louth or Cork? Or does that not agree with your narrow-minded, petty viewpoint? Anybody who actively wants fellow eL clubs to be screwed over is an idiot. And that includes Delaney.
This is sure media speculation as no criteria even talked about so far... Only thing known that they will be some criteria in addition to league position.
I think any relaunch needs to dump eircom as sponsor.
What? Why do I have to vote for what you tell me? Dont go painting everyone with the same brush!Originally Posted by pineapple stu

he has been lambasting Galway and their suppoters as had his alter ego ever since the story came out just because Genesis actually attended an open Forum in Galway to discuss their report. There was nothing secret in that meeting about 70 people attended and fans from any club were welcome.
No club will be selected strictly on their geographical location and this is bulls***t being spouted by UCD fans in Particular.
Galway made a conscious decision over 3 years ago on the way they were going to run the club and ground it in the community so as to ensure out=r long term sustainability otherwise we were heading for the wall. The current set up is finally functioning smoothly and the business and local community are backing us to the hilt which will be shown very shortly when we have our pre season launch. Each club has to get there own house in order and the fans like the supporters trust in Galway have to do their part if they dont they simply will not survive.
From a Galway United Press Release (my emphasis):
"The most revolutionary aspect of the proposal is the creation of a ten-team elite division, with two regionalised divisions operating below it.
Galway United, who expect to be one of the ten teams in the elite division, not least as Government funding will be dependant on a geographical spread of clubs, were told their strategic plan was the way forward for all clubs."
Fair play to Galway for their strategic plan and the work they have done. But would they be as confident of being admitted to the elite league if they were located somewhere between Longford and Athlone?

because of the plan that is being implemented by the club.In conjunction with the Galway F.A. Terryland will be one of the best grounds in the country and under propsals currently being discussed with the Galway F.A. we will be firmly rooted in the local Junior Soccer scene.
Its the way forward as anyone who has read the FAI Strategic Plan drawn up by the Techinical Division.
Monaghan United field 8 or 9 Schoolboy teams, an Under-21 team, 3 women's teams as well as a senior team. The LMC leaggue uses CHP for its Oscar Traynor Cup games and the clubhouse for its meetings, as well as supplying virtually all of the players for the Under-21 team. We could not be more rooted in the local Junior soccer scene. We are sitting on land worth a fortune and could easily sell a tract to build a stadium that would be one of the best grounds in the country. Hmm maybe we should be part of the elite league.
Show me where I told you how to vote? The question was asked as to who was voting for, and I gave an opinion. I think it's quite clear that Galway fans are one of the most pro groups. Where's your problem?Originally Posted by Terry
I never said any club will be selected strictly on geography. All reports are that factors such as geography, marketability, facilities and attendances will be considered. The proposal itself explicitly states that league position will take only a part of the decision. So we're in a position where the FAI are going to be able to hand-pick whatever clubs they want under whatever criteria they want. That's a disgrace. What part of that is causing you problems?Originally Posted by gufct
Genesis are con-men - anyone who has studied their report will tell you that.. The NLSA tried to get a meeting - they couldn't be bothered. We suggested one single meeting in Dublin - they never bothered to reply. Drop the stupid suggestion that all we have to do is get Genesis out to talk to us. they were happy to talk to youz to butter youz u pto vote for the proposal.
If a club who can get under 200 for games as Galway did last year - despite giving season ticket holders more value in vouchers than the value of their season ticket, effectively paying people to go to games - can get promoted off the field ahead of clubs who are outperforming them year-in-year-out - thereby decreasing the quality of the league - it'd be a disgrace.
