ray houghton played for ireland, but temporarily switched to britain to play in the commonwealth games footabll tournament, then back to irealnd afterwards.
all hypothetical,but still it wouldnt be right. athlets shuoldnt be switching countries to play in various competitions to suit themselves
it is a easier competion she is stepping down she is not good enough to compete in top level international or european distance running so she will compete in less competitive competitionsWhy doesn't the has-been just pack it in

i heard that the injury was just a feign, because she got a bit too much stick in aus,becuase she stated that she would still run for ireland in europe and the world championships.
anyhow she is 36 now....
