    Lads,
To make a comparison, the reason a 20 team league works in England is because they have 3 relegation places and about 8 or 10 european places. Every team has something to play for. In a 22 team league with 3 european places and no relegation most teams' season will be over before it starts. It'll be nothing more than a series of 42 friendly games.

Exactly ..... that is the very reason 22 team league would be a disaster.
If someone were to implement this change, then it is a clear sign that the wrong person is in charge and has the ability to implement it.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Given that I'm usually among the first to complain about the FAI/eL, I may as well hold my hands up here and stand corrected.

Incidentally, what I've heard suggests that any league format change is driven by the likes of Ollie who doesn't want to have to play the likes of UCD, Dublin City, Kilkenny, Monaghan, etc. and who is actively trying to ensure those clubs don't play a part in the top flight in the future. I've also heard there are enough clubs to realise they could well get screwed over and so will be voting against any format change, especially with the change back to a 12-team league last season. Touch wood, anyway!
