Villa starlet close to Seagulls switch
January 18, 2006
Aston Villa’s Republic of Ireland under-21 international goalkeeper Wayne Henderson is nearing a permanent move to Coca-Cola Championship side Brighton.
Henderson spent three months at the Withdean Stadium earlier this season, and Seagulls boss Mark McGhee made no secret of the fact that he wanted to make the move a permanent one in the January transfer window.
The deal looked under peril after a row over a fee purportedly due to Henderson’s agent, but that now seems to have been smoothed over.
The 22-year-old Dubliner said: “In the next couple of days it should be sorted. As far as I know, all the terms have been agreed.
"It’s been going back and forth for so long. My last game for Brighton was on November 1 and it should really have been sorted out soon after that. Now I cannot wait to get back down there.”
Just what he needs. My mate's a Brighton fan and he says he's very popular down there.
Hes gone for £20,000 and another £35,000 if they avoid relegation.
his brother is a keeper too(under-16's, I think) Have 2 brother's ever battled it out for their country's number one spot?
They're a bit of a goalkeeping Dynasty... My younger Bro used to work for his Granda, who was also a Keeper.... And Waynes Da and Uncle were also LOI and Irish League Keepers.... The Bro plays a bit and the boss used to throw him the odd bit of Ireland kit... Very nice family by all accounts
