Obviously 10,000 Pats fan at it I was stuck in the terrace to the right of the main stand. Fecking awful place to watch a game

Just wondering, what's the nearest football club (amateur or senior) to me? (I live in Rathmines, Dublin)

    Cheers

Rathmines, well league of ireland wise it would be UCD?

However you really wanna go watch Shelbourne in Tolka Park and become a Shels supporter.

A journo asked McNamara after the first game the attendance and he plucked 22,000 out of the air. Considering there were only 7,200 seats there at the time there was no chance of an extra 15,000 on terraces........

The entrances are on Simmonscourt Road and Angelsea Road. It's where the 'D4' is on this map. I don't think it's usually open to stroll around if there's nothing on there though.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Then you were standing on where the ground is.

Not sure where you saw the Horse Racing/Greyhound tracks The Horse Show is held on the grass which was used for Shamrock and Leinster Rugby matches.

The "RDS experience" is very different for rugby than it was for soccer. Temporary stands on 3 sides, temporary floodlights, plenty of bar and food facilities. Might not fly with FIFA/UEFA but worked out very well on a short-term basis to fit the need for that type of stadium. Shows how poor the facilities at the likes of Tolka/Dalymount/Richmond are that they can't be used for such events.

Since we left they put in corporate boxes as well. IMO one of the reasons we are in a mess regarding grounds is that we left there too early.
