Friendly Vs FC United of Manchester

On the 12th United will play a friendly against FC United of Manchester.

The game is to be played at Wycombe's Causeway Stadium[Adams Park].
The closest airport to High Wycombe is London's Heatrow. Flights to
Londons Heatrow for that weekend are bookable at the moment, from
55eurofor a return flight:

A lot of GUFC supporters have said that they would be interested in going.
The Supporters Trust are sponsoring the training trip and will also be organising a group of travelling supporters,
I presume that we will be flying from Galway Airport.

Anyone interested should come to our next meeting on Tuesday night, 10th
January, upstairs in Fibber Magees at 9.30pm sharp.

Supporters may have heard that we are to play Irish League side Galway
United on February 12th. Galway United were the first club in Ireland to
have a supporters' trust. The trust has gone from strength to strength and
has a seat on the GUFC board and they are keen to establish relationships
with supporter owned clubs such as ourselves.

The Irish League season starts in March and the supporters' trust has
financed a 'pre-season' trip to England and the club has asked if we would
play them in a behind closed doors practice match.

Karl is keen to take the opportunity to give some match practice to players
who have not featured regularly in our first team, and at the same time have
a look at some trialists in a match against good level opposition midway
through our own season.

Contrary to some views Galway United are not owned by former Barings Bank
employee Nick Leeson, the club employ him as a General Manager. FC United
has no right to influence the employment decisions of other clubs but we do
wish to give support to those clubs who genuinely encourage supporter
involvement and ownership.

That last paragraph above sounds a bit dodgy? Should be a useful exercise for ye though lads, and a nice little away trip for the supporters!

easyjet shannon to gatwick out on friday back on monday will cost you €33.26 return inc taxes which is excellent

Wycombe is about an 1 hour and 10 mins from Gatwick if you head for the M25 by car then take junction 16 M40 to wycombe

is a euphenism for "no FC United supporters". Wycombe would be unable to cater for a large amount of spectators at their training ground.

the friendly against fc united of manchester is being held at wycombes training ground and in theory is being played behind closed doors although i have been assred that the galway united fans will be allowed in for the match. with fc united having a good travelling support for some reason the clubs (or maybe it was wycombe ) decided for a closed doors game. it seems a bit strange to play a match and not to want any supporters at it.
anyway, a few of us will be coming over to wycombe area on the friday. we will be taking in their home match v mansfield on the saturday before enjoying the "wonderfull" night life of wycombe.
