I wouldnt actually be surprised if Galway won the 1st division this season, it would be great for the premier division if there was a team from the west in it, good luck for the season!![]()
Seeing as people are guessing the premier standings....why not hazard a guess at the 1st.

2 Shamrock Rovers
3 Dundalk
4 Finn Harps

I'm surprised someone has put Dundalk down that low. They were good enough last season and have made a lot of good signings so far this season. I wouldn't write them off that quickOriginally Posted by A face

Random guess 'cos I don't pay that much attention to the First nowadays...Looks like it's going to be one of the more interesting campaigns though...
1) Dundalk
Gill's a good manager, and they've made a fair few decent signings. Weren't too far off the pace last year - drew far too many matches obviously - but could turn them into wins this year.
2) Galway
Not far off the play-offs last year; Alan Murphy should be a class apart in the First - if he can repeat his goalscoring feats of his last spell, Galway could do well.
3) Rovers
Not too impressed by their signings so far - a lot of average to decent First Division players, a bit short of what they should be looking at. Mightn't make it back up.
4) Limerick
Should have made some good money from last season; no reason they can't keep the crowds to a similar level and build on last season.
5) Cobh
Choked last year - a few more City cast-offs mightn't be enough to move them up.
6) Harps
McHugh is a major major loss. Consolidation for the moment.
7) Kildare
Impossible to predict this lot - they seem to be on a downward slope and in off-field turmoil, which won't help their season.
8) Athlone
Couldn't be worse than last season!
9) Kilkenny
Too many loan signings, and too many of the decent players (and te manager) gone to Rovers to make an impact.
10) Monaghan
Process of elimination!

1 Galway United (Alan Murphy should be the difference between last season and a league title.)
2 Shamrock Rovers (If the fans stay in numbers, and i think they will, rovers will be fine, should gain promotion via the playoffs.)
3 Finn Harps (will battle with Galway and Rovers, might just miss out though)
4 Dundalk (John Gill will have a solid outfit, lacking in quality, although so were Dublin City in 2003)
5 Limerick (Noel O'Connor won't survive the season)
6 Cobh Ramblers (won't recapture the form of last season)
7 Kilkenny City (without scully and half their squad will struggle)
8 Kildare County (lost any player worth taking, although Alan Mulcahy is a great talent)
9 Athlone Town (have turned their focus to developing their club off the pitch, with a new manager, and a new stadium in the pipeline, the future is bright for Athlone, although not this season)
10 Monaghan United (I actually like Monaghan, but think they should concentrate on local talent, rather than bringing in dublin rejects. bring out a local crowd, better to be losing with locals and a crowd, than with rejects and **** crowds.
