The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Ex-St Pat's coach takes Kilkenny City helm
    13/01/2006 - 10:56:25

Kilkenny City have announced the appointment of Adrian Fitzpatrick as their new senior team manager.

Fitzpatrick, aged 40, from Dublin, spent more than three years as coach of St Patrick's Athletic and he was assistant manager at Waterford United when the Blues won the 1997-98 eircom League First Division title.

Earlier in his soccer career, he was coach to the Dublin and District Schoolboys League (DDSL) and spent three years as head football coach at Trinity College.

His assistant will be former Stoke City, Sligo Rovers and Shamrock Rovers striker, Mark Reid.

They will take up their new positions immediately.

Wishing the management team well as they take up their new roles with the club, Kilkenny City Director Jim Rhatigan said he was grateful to all who had showed an interest in the manager's position.

"I’m confident that Adrian Fitzpatrick and Mark Reid will continue the progress and success that has been witnessed and enjoyed at Buckley Park in recent seasons," he said.
