    Stephen Kelly to West Ham?

From Skysports.com, should be a good move, if he gets first team football. If not, well just look at what's happened to Clive Clarke

Skysports.com understand West Ham are planning a swoop for Tottenham defender Stephen Kelly.

The Hammers are thought to be in the market for a new defender as they look to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.

Alan Pardew could be in the market for a new full back with major doubts continuing to surround the future of Tomas Repka.

Repka is hoping to leave Upton Park this month to return to his native Czech Republic.

Should Repka move on in January, it would leave West Ham short of options at the back and they are considering a move for Kelly.

The 22-year-old is mulling over his future after growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of first team opportunities at White Hart Lane.

He has admitted he would consider his options if his situation did not improve after Christmas and could decide to move on.

The young Irishman’s current contract expires at the end of the season and Spurs could opt to sell him rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer.

If he got his game, it'd be a good move for him. Great place to learn your football. I'm told by a Hammers fan at work that Glen Johnson may be going back there on loan.

Seems to be a contradiction in that statement. West Ham might have good structures but how come they created possibly the worst (at least over-rated) player in top flight english football. Sure Mourinho will play a midfielder or centre back at right back instead of him.

By all accounts Johnson had the talent but going to Chelsea went to his head. Just cos he's a lazy git doesn't mean that West Ham doesn't have a history of coaching & nurturing young players. So no contradiction that I can see.

I maintain my view that regular first team football at a club like West Ham would be good for Kelly.

I'd imagine it could be worth his while fighting for his place at Spurs though. I think too many of us, including me, wrote off Robbie's prospects there too quickly. Is Stalteri anything more than a short-term fill to add experience to an otherwise very young defence? Andy Reid is the one I'm most concerned about there.

Thought you were talking about Rio Ferdinand for a moment.

There's an XI of ex and current west ham players to win the premiership
Can't remember all of it but I'm fairly certain you finish with a 4-5-1

    Van Der Gouw (sp?)
    Glen Johnson Nigel Winterburn
    Frank Lampard Joe Cole
    Teddy Sheringham

Ian Pearce won the league at Blackburn I think.
    Roy Carroll (current, like Sheringham)
    Luke Chadwick ?

I doubt Aliadiere has a winners medal from Arsenal.

He got a medal in the 2004 unbeaten season - he played 10 games that season (just barely made - 10 is the threshold for receiving a medal)

Kelly ready for return to Spurs starting eleven

Ireland and Spurs 'unsettled' under 21 international Stephen Kelly, could be set for a return to the Tottenham starting line up due to the injury of Lee Yong-Pyo.

Kelly has been rumoured to have put in a transfer request as he has become disillusioned with the lack of chances of first team football at Spurs. Fulham are among a number of clubs tracking the Kelly situation.

When quizzed on the injury to Yong-Pyo, Spurs boss Jol said " The left-back position shouldn’t be too much of a problem because I played Stephen Kelly there last season"

Questioned on his future at Spurs, Kelly said recently " I don’t really want to move, but I have to look at my career. At this stage it’s crucial that I play. Ireland have a new manager on the way and Stephen Carr has quit. I want to be on the international scene."

just finished watchin spurs leicester, gotta say that two of the poorest players on the field were stephen kelly and alan maybury. they are no where near international standard currently. paddy mccarthy was captain of leiester and made some very good and important challenges, also managed to keep robbie keane and the awful polish striker rasiak reasonably quiet.

very strange game-jol was looking extremely smug after the second goal went in for spurs. kelly had a mare but was playing out of position and its his first game for a while...that shot that he had when put clean through. wow-terrible stuff
