President David Blood extends seasonal greetings

The President of the Football Association of Ireland, Mr. David Blood, today extended his good wishes for Christmas and the New Year to the members of Ireland’s football family. Mr. Blood said: “It is timely to pay tribute to those who continue to contribute to the development of football in Ireland by their active involvement and their support.

“We can look back on a year of advancement on all levels with the numbers participating in our game and our competitions continuing to grow. “Their needs are looked after by a voluntary army of enthusiastic administrators and officials whose dedication to the game means so much to our continuing advancement"

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

I hope somene gives that fella an honorary degree.

Would be great for the media to be able to refer to him as 'Doctor Blood'.....

And ironic, given the plethora of leeches at Merrion Square...

He took over from Milo Corcoran at the end of his term in office. 'Twas only a couple of months ago.

And where did Milo go? back to Heineken?

Wasn't Heineken still paying him a salary, or FAI reimburssing Heineken or somethiong odd like that?

Yeah, I think I remember there was something dodgy about that alright. Think it involved the FAI wasting money rather then Heineken.

I was in a bar one morning (at about 11am- at The Clonea Strand Hotel or something like that in Waterford) and ordered a bottle of Heineken. Milo Corcoran was in the bar too and came over and paid for it, saying anyone who drank Heineken that hour of the day deserved it for free

was the United Churches League Deligate to the FAIlure. Must be a Dub so. Presumably a ManUre fan or something. When I say there is nothing on the old world wide web about this man, I mean it.

In all his time at the reigns, there has been one press release .... that seems very very strange to me to be honest.

Well he's not an Eircom League head, but then again the Prsidents position is no longer that important, the CEO is the main man now.

Might be no harm to have a low profile Paddy Hillery style safe pair of hands, rather than a publicity junkie.

However, given his background, lets hope an EL side don't draw a Premiership in Europe

There's a queue. We're still waiting for Bob Breen to finish off his answers.

I have a feeling we'll be waiting .... and that would have been an interesting one aswell. Haven't been succesful in getting anyone that actually works with the FAI to do a Q&A .... that is saying something. Above board and transparent you say !?!!
