Bono was of the view that Africa is in the same kind of vulnerable position that Europe was after the Second World War. And thought it would be very smart for the West to invest in preventing the fires rather than putting them out, which is a lot more expensive.
For years, the Irish rock star has been campaigning for third-world debt relief and creating awareness on the plight of Africa.

The title has a chequered history but it's actually got more to do with influence than whether someone is good or bad.

Bono +Gates received it for doing some good work in Africa,give them some credit for that,they saved alot of lives and anyone that can do that is good by me,they deserve to get an award for that.

In 1999 it was estimated that if he kept all his money under his matress he would sleep some 14 miles up in the air.

how much is bill worth ? All i say to him is fair play bud. The amount of money he is giving to Aid agencies is meant to be huge. Fair play Bono as well, he has done a lot of good work.
The Time Person of the Year hasn't been good for years now - how else can anyone explain Dubya getting it twice.
Bill Gates may be stinking rich but so are loads of other people. I think he entitled to recognition for his Foundation as I don't see it as an ego trip. If i was donating that kind of money id want to distribute myself too.
Not sure about Bono but he did get some kind of results this year even if huge hypocrasy in the people supporting Fair Trade.
Given that he's leaving most of his cash to the foundation (all but 0.02 per cent apparently) when he dies I think he's heart is in the right place. Doubt his kids will be overly delighted though
