    Hearts linked with Darren Potter

A £750,000 bid is in the pipeline as soon as he is recovered from his back injury according to one of the tabloids here.

    Unlikely I think personally.

I think he would more than likely be looking to get a lower table Premiership team or a top Championship team if he was going to move. It would be a better career move for him at this young stage of his career.

There might well be genuine interest, I just think it's unlikely he'd go to Hearts.

Why not Hearts? a team with possible Champions League football if not UEFA cup next season.

Hearts are having a good season but have still to prove that it's not a boom and bust scenario. If they are consistently challenging for trophies over the next 2-3 years then yes it would be a decent option and they will be able to attract a better calibre of player because of it.

I remain unconvinced though, we have seen this before in Scotland and I might add that despite a lot people thinking that Hearts have had some type of Abramovich saviour, Romanov does not have his wealth and they still remain approx £23 million in debt.

All Romanov did was transfer the debt to his own bank. He didn't actually pay any of it off.

I'd like to see him going to Hearts. He's a central midfielder and has started one competitive in that position for Liverpool. I think its time to move on. Rudi Skacel's move to Hearts hsa turned out to be an excellent move as he has forced himself back into the Czech squad.

On that note, was his last game not the one where he was taken off at half time and got slated by the coach Eirebhoy? Can't remember the coach's exact words but I remember that it was a fairly stinging attack on him.

Yeah, Armenia. From reading the coaches comments he hardly seemed to know who Skacel was. "I had good references about him from Scotland, but he disappointed me".

Hearts would be a great move for Potter because he's not up to Premiership/Liverpool standards and might be a good stepping stone for the lad to gain some confidence.

Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov is playing down reports that Irish youngster Darren Potter could be set for a £750,000 move north of the border.

The Liverpool Daily Post and Echo recently stated that the player was attracting interest from Hearts. Those claims have since been denied by Romanov but we understand that Potter was given permission to speak to them, although this was before he fractured a vertebrae in his back while playing for the reserves.

Asked if the Potter link was genuine, Romanov snapped: "I am surprised. The spreading of such stories is the work of agents."
