FAI welcomes GAA announcement
The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) has welcomed the decision of the GAA’s Central Council to give its seal of approval to the opening of Croke Park to other sports for the duration of the Lansdowne Road redevelopment work.
The first soccer and rugby internationals are tipped to take place at Croker in early 2007, which is likely to see Six Nations rugby and European Championship qualifiers making the move to the Jones’s Road venue.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
