God
Let Byrne go to Djungardens. Get a good sell on clause cos if he does any good he'll be sold on.
As for Weso, cant see him commanding a €1 million transfer fee. 500,000 with a decent sell on clause.
Weso is infinitely more valuable than Jayo. At least €1.5m to be blatantly honest. He has years and years of football ahead of him.
The sports team from my area is superior to the sports team from your area.
You can't use the age excuse with Wes like with Jayo about having no re-sell value afterwards. If they want Wes they'll have to pay more than they did for Jayo
Any official news will be announced on Shelsweb first. So far no deal has been signed and if and when it does we will publish the news.

Jeez ye getting ahead of yourselfs with €1.5m bids now. IMO most eL sides would jump at the chance of selling any players for €500k. Baby steps to getting true value for players is whats required.
It seems only thing thats holding up Byrne transfer is Shels probably trying to get Bray to lower their entitlement in sell on clause.
This is the way the eL should eL funing itself. Biggest clubs buy from smaller clubs, big clubs ell best players & smaller club gets a cut or else sells another player to bigger clubs & so on. If the top sides could sell a decent player for 500k a season it would fund movement to the next level. If those players were successful abroad would get sell on funds down the line...

There is literally no player of Wes Hoolahans class available for 500,000 anywhere especially one as young as him. Ergo, sell him for that, the team is weakened, Shels lose out, so why do it? Believe it or not Shels don't have to sell anyone, even Byrne, for financial reasons this season.
I dont really want any of our best players to go. €500,000 is nothing. Even €1.5 million wouldnt really impress me. But im sure the club is doing what is best for Shelbourne F.C.
It's about a quarter of a million in today's money anyway. UCD got £30,000 for Joe Hanrahan in 1985. Amazing that we're not even now back to that position!Originally Posted by geysir
I'm not a big fan of Byrne's to be honest, never really have been, but if the figure is over €500,000 then its a pretty decent deal for Shels. Given the way the transfer market is now, and taking past transfers into account its not bad at all. Maybe not the kind of figure we'd all hope for, but certainly a big step in the right direction
Have you ever been impressed by anything in your life then?Originally Posted by thejollyrodger
Exactly, its a gradual move. If Byrne goes for 500-600k it sets the bar higher for other eL players especially if goes to tribunals or such...Originally Posted by Éanna

I think he was talking about consistancy, as in the last few years,
One good season dosent make a good striker.....
On average over the past 3 EPL seasons (i think).........
Glen Crowe - 15.33
Jason Byrne - 22.66
John O'Flynn - 12.33
Declan O'Brien - 9.33
Byrne is by far the best goal scorer in the eL
If you include Zayed, 2 seasons in the 1st his record is 16 goals per season on average, and McHugh's average over the past 3 seasons is 18 goals per season, also 2 seasons in the 1st division.

Great research there Roo69. Are those the top 4 averages? As a matter of interest what was Crowe's average for the last 3 years excluding the year at Shels? In my opinion Crowe is still the best striker in the league.Originally Posted by Roo69
Yep, they are the top 4 averages that i can see and work out, Crowe's last 3 seasons with Bohs he averaged 18.66 goals per season.
Also, i was just looking at the lists of scorers there, Mark Robrts was with Shels, what ever happened to him ?
He's with Partick Thistle in the Scottish Division Two now. Can honestly say I don't remember him at all...!
