    Yeah funny how that happens

Looks like he's going then. I think at 450,000 they've got themselves one hell of a bargain. I suppose one thing keeping the price down is he's nearly 27 so they wont get much resale value for him. I hope we've added some clauses such as international calls ups and the likes on top of that.

Be funny if they met Cork in europe again though

Or even Shels some other year, how long is he signing for ??
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Well it seems he hasn't discussed terms with them yet so I've no idea. I'd imagine 3 years minimum to start with.

I reckon the EL will be exactly where it is now.

This is a great move for the Troglodyte should he take it. With his inevitable call up to the national squad and if he cuts the mustard in Sweden his career could blossom into something very lucrative for him.

And even if it doesn't work out the EL will always be there for him as a safety net. Even at 30 clubs will queue to sign him if he wants to come back.

I think any move for the guy is good considering the way he walks, troglodyte is right !!

Only kidding ... should have got more though.

That usually happens but in all honesty Cork are a better side than Djurgardens so how can an international manager see it as a step up?

I predict Cork City v Djungardens in CL 2nd qualifying round.

Swedes not a force in europe anymore. Not had team in CL group stages for years.

I think €450k would be reasonable business as would raise the profile of the league & be interesting to see an irish player playing outside the UK.

In fairness, very few people were calling for Doyle to be called up for the China friendly back in March (Ireland's last match during Doyle's time in the EL). I did a search on another forum a few days ago and I was one of 2 people to predict Doyle getting the EL top scorer in a thread back in February.

The question is not wheather Byrne is worth 400,000 euro, rather can Shels get a player better than Byrne with that money.

McHugh doesn't seem to want Ulster. Dunno about Farren yet, first of all it'd cost to get him second will he be able to repeat that form for another season?

I notice that Byrne was never considered international class while he was playing for Bray. He moves to Shels and is instantly called up to the Ireland squad. Funny how that happens!

It's a sad indictment of the game in Wicklow when you have to leave Bray to be deemed worthy of international football.

You will find his calling up was for the benefit of Bray who got additional money for Jason being "capped".

Is 200K of that not a signing on fee? If Bray are taking half of the 400K left, do you only value your top scorer at 200K? Think about it, now you have to replace a striker (let's be honest, Crowe isn't exactly banging them in) and now every club knows there's money in the bank, so you'll have to pay over the odds for a replacement. Not a good deal if you ask me. Can't have been thinking too far ahead with the sell on agreement with Bray.

Even sadder when you don't even have to leave County Dublin

Bray could do some good & actually spend some cash on their ground. Hows about a roof to stop those spring/summer/autumn/winter wind chills?

Shels will buy Zayed as replacement but his fee might have increased if Bray sitting on wad of cash.

Byrne left Bray after they were relegated, I don't think even the most ardent of eL fans will argue that a player in the First Division is playing at international standard!

According to some lad in one of the other threads here, they are also after Weso Now Weso would require a 7 figure sum as far as I am concerned! If he was let go for anything under, say, €1,500,000 there'd be something wrong with the world!
