Someone mentioned there could be a few surprises at this WC. I think the extent of that would be the likes of the Ivory Coast or Ghana gettin' to the 1/4's. My beans would go on Germany.
Early predictions for the 2006 World Cup:
- it will go down as good one and perhaps one of the best.
- Brasil and England have the best players but not the best teams. Neither to go beyond the semi's.
- Germany will win their group barely and go out in the quarter/semis (any side with Huth as a starting centre back are not betterthan average)
- Italy, Spain, France have alot to improve on and go into it with lots to prove, out of the three Italy have the best of an average chance.
Now on to the quality teams:
- Before the draw I was thinking of an Argentina - Mexico final but I am currently revising this - but both will go far. I will still go with Argentina to win it.
- Netherlands, Czech Rep, and Portugal all have an excellent chance too (in this order).
Think that is about everyone. Sweden and Croatia are possible semi-finalists, I don't know enough yet about Ukraine or Afrikian or Asian sides but I'd say all the usual cliche still hold.
I'll be standing by all this too with my hard earned euros. As others have said Mexico are the most under-valued of all the side and 50/1 is certainly value and as such are my pick to win from a gambling point of view, from a football side I'd can't look past the Argies.
A man is never really poor,
if he can still laugh.
Portugal had their big chance two years ago and, although Greece were better then them in both matches, they should've won it.

Italy were in it that time.Originally Posted by Kingdom
Either one of Italy, Germany (West & United), Brazil and Argentina have been involved in every final. Except 1950 where there was no final but Brazil finished second.

You're right. Italy were in that final. But the question asked by Snoop Drog was : When was the last time one of (Brazil Germany , Argentina) didn't make the final.Originally Posted by superfrank

I was making the point that it is a fair enough assumption to say that Brazil, Argentina or Germany (or Italy I guess) will win the final because at least one of them is always IN the final.
And I reckon this time round will be no different-Home advantage counts for alot so I reckon Germany will be there or thereabouts. Brazil never seems to worry about home advantage anyway and, from what I have seen in the last year or so, are gelling together as a team really well.
Argentina were a bit unlucky last time round. I saw the highlights of their game Vs Brazil in WCQ and they played well.
