    Keane's future

Spanish sports daily Marca have claimed
    that Roy Keane's adviser Michael
Kennedy is to meet with officials from
Real Madrid regarding a move to Spain.

    Keane who parted company with
Manchester United on November 18 is on
the look out for a new club and has
claimed that he's not keen on a move to
    another Premiership club.

    Keane's former United team-mate David
Beckham has previously claimed that he
wants Keane to move to the Bernabeu.

Real are reported to be offering a six
month contract to the midfielder, who
    is cup-tied from European competition.

Much prefer to see him with Barca tbh(dont know if they want him). They are the future Spanish giants!

Barca have a decent holiding player whereas Madrid dont. I think he would go if it was an 18 month contract.

I thought all Roy would be fit for is defending and we all know what Reál think of defenders. I just wonder could Roy M Keane do a holding role at Madrid, he couldnt play every game for United.

I doubt he would be able to get Pablo Garcia out of the team but he would free up Thomas Gravesen to join another club and play the odd game when Garcia is rested

Lads Xavi of Barca is out for 6 months, just read it there on the BBC website, and I think they may make an offer for Keane. That would suit all parties. Keane would get to play with a team of commitment passion and skill and in front of 100,000 fans and they have the sqauad to cater for him to be restted etc. He would also fill a game in midfield. I know he is not as attacking as Xavi.

They could bring him over and humilate him by resting him on the bench for 18 months. Typical Reál fascists Madrid policy

'Marca' claims he has passed a medical yesterday and will join them this week.

Main source(Spanish): http://www.marca.com/edicion/marca/f...lo/599074.html Edit: not working. Thanks Gustavo for the subsequent amendment.

    Another source(Daily Mail): http://www.myfootballnews.co.uk/news...0&story=392140

Roy Keane will sign for Spanish giants Real Madrid today to complete a remarkable reversal of fortune for the man who was axed by Manchester United three weeks ago.
The 34-year-old former United captain will have a medical in Spain and, barring last-minute hitches, will sign an £80,000-a-week contract to play for Real until the end of the season, with an option to stay longer if both parties agree.

The Irishman's move will reunite him with former Old Trafford team-mate David Beckham, who was instrumental in tempting Keane to the Bernabeu.

Ironically, Keane will be moving to the club who have usurped United as the biggest in the world. The deal, which follows weeks of secret talks between Keane's advisers and the Real Madrid hierarchy, was all but clinched at a meeting in the Spanish capital during the past ten days.

Keane's mission will be to help Real mount a challenge to joint Spanish league leaders Barcelona and Osasuna in the second half of what is a crucial season.

The former Republic of Ireland skipper will be unable to play in the knockout stages of the Champions League because he is cup-tied, but his qualities of leadership could be a vital asset for a side who struggled under former coach Wanderley Luxemburgo.

The Brazilian was sacked by Real last week, leaving reserve-team coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro in temporary charge. The power brokers who have lined up Keane are president Florentino Perez and his vice-president, Emilio Butragueno.

Recent speculation has linked Keane with Celtic, Everton and West Bromwich Albion, but there was only one team he wanted to join once Real came calling. And his salary will be not too far behind the likes of Real's galacticos - Beckham, Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo

And now I hear the Celtic deal might be on again but I suspect this is just a rumour spread by Keane's Agents to make Real M get the finger out since they said no decision will be taken for a while.

    Keano off to Paradise?

The sh!theap that is the Sun has a front page "exclusive" that claims Celtic have got Keane and will unveil him within the next 48 hours after he spurned Madrids advances.

If it's true then money is obviously not a factor for him (not that he needs it I know) because he'll be on significantly less thatn he was on at Utd or would've got at Real Madrid.

    Paradise?? Glasgow??

If he goes to Glasgow he'll have a huge percentage from his image rights, that'll make up for the low wages, and more

It was never about money for Keane, if it was money then he could go to Madrid, Everton, Bolton who were all offering way in excess of what Celtic will be offering (Rumours suggest £15k per week + £5k per appearance).

You can knock Keane for many things, past it, injury prone, not really a Celtic supporter, narky cork ........., however, I will be happy to see him come up to CP, I appreciate he won't be playing that many games but I think in the games he does play and also the influence he will bring to the squad in training etc will be invaluable.

Keane will also be able to use the move to gain coaching badges for his own personal development.

Celtic will be paying a low price for a quality player, recouping much of it merchandising etc....
