Lansdowne Road, at this rate.
I'd be suprised if anyone other than Don Givens will be in charge for the match against Sweden. Why they want to play us I don't know.![]()
I hope the Swedes remembered to get Delaney's signature on the contract.
I've no real appetite for friendlies - Maybe Kerr's highlight was the 1-0 win over Holland in a friendly when Holland were more concerned about avoiding injuries? Neither the result or performance means a god damn, would like to see new faces though.
Irish like to play down our friendly wins but Holland were all out for the win against us. It was more like a competitive match than a friendly and they were booed off the park in the end. The players were playing for their places as it was the last game before the European Champs and a lot of the team that started against us were dropped. Our win against Holland was a lot bigger than England's against Argentina, that's for sure.Originally Posted by Qwerty

Couldn't agree more. And what a performance. One of the best I've seen us put in.Originally Posted by eirebhoy

Heard on the radio that the Dutch friendly will be scraped if we draw Holland in the Euro qualifiers group or if either team has a competitive fixture set for that day.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
And the defending for Keane's goal? They just watched him and let him shoot! Holland are never 'all out' to win a friendly except if they are playing Belgium or Germany.Originally Posted by eirebhoy
What's the chances of getting tickets for both of these? Will it sell-out?.

Every player wants to play in the European Championships and if Reiziger, Sneijder and Kluivert had've played well against us they would have started the opening match against Germany. They knew if they didn't perform there was a big chance of someone taking their place on the big stage so every Dutch player was up for it. Their reaction after the match said it all.Originally Posted by Qwerty
There's no point in playing down these results. We got some excellent results in friendlies and not every team was just worried about injuries. The Czech's are no different to us when it comes to friendlies. They were over 20 games unbeaten before we beat them and Baros didn't shy away from celebrating his goal.
god forbid we would actually play some away friendlies...we struggle away from home every campaign....its always home friendlies..i take it the fai just want the money..
