Reid will be sold in January. Hopefully by a team that plays him in the centre.

Good to see Keane start again though.

Why didn't you tell us when he signed and you could have put all our minds to rest?

    Didn't seem to bother Maradona.

    Found this story btw:

CHIGWELL (Reuters) - Ireland winger Andy Reid still has a future at Tottenham Hotspur despite his lack of first team opportunities this season, says manager Martin Jol.

Reid made a promising start after joining the Premier League club last January but has not been in the starting lineup since an embarrassing League Cup defeat at fourth division Grimsby Town in September.

The 23-year-old joined from Nottingham Forest in an eight-million-pound deal that included England Under-21 international Michael Dawson, now a first team regular.

He made 13 appearances last season but lost his place to Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids, who arrived in the close season.

However, Jol says Reid has time on his side and stressed he is also the only naturally left-sided winger at the club.

"Andy is still very young and I think he started off well and now has got competition," Jol told reporters at the club's training ground ahead of Saturday's Premier League match at Wigan Athletic.

"He was not struggling but we had to make another step. Edgar is not a typical wide player but we had to make a choice between Andy and Edgar and I have (left back) Lee (Young-pyo) in my concept."

Media reports this week linked Reid with a possible one-million-pound move to second division Leeds United in January but Jol ruled that out.

"He played yesterday for the reserves and had an outstanding game and that's what I want from him. Two weeks ago he played for the reserves and was the best man on the pitch. He's our only wide player on the left."

Reid's future looked brighter after Tottenham denied on Thursday they were making a move for Olympique Marseille's exciting France Under-21 midfielder Franck Ribery.

Sporting director Damien Comolli praised Ribery before the European Under-21 Championship playoff first leg between England and France at White Hart Lane this month.

But Comolli told the Spurs website: "Any stories linking us with a move for Ribery are pure speculation. Of course, we all know he is a wonderful player and we all enjoyed watching him at the Lane.

"I think I mentioned four players to watch -- it doesn't mean they are on my Christmas shopping list."

You are not Martin Jol in disguise are you? I am very very interested as to why and how you have come to this conclusion?

I tell you why... Reid arrived at Spur with great fan fair and media hype, how he was going to do everything, get into shape, new attitute (remember forest), work on his game etc.

Well what has he done is ... . He has been shown that he cant run the length of a football pitch, his techincal ability is limited to his one peg and spends most of his time looking for a pass. He still sulks and moans at the ref half the time and looks very ordinary. He has failed to break into a good EPL side and Ive fallen out of favour with the lad.

The only way Reid will ever become a player of note is by stopping going down to the KFC after trainig and spend more time in the sauna.

Jeez, well you're an unrepentant arsehole.

Just admit you were wrong. Then you can "blame" Andy Reid.

There's still allot of football to be played this season. But it's a worry that he's not even on the bench, despite Jols praise. I think he'd do well at Man City.
And I'm sure Wigans Paul Jewell knows all about having hung around the lower division for the last while. A step back to the championship would be a disaster though.

Ive fallen out of favour with the lad nothing more. I dont think he has improved much when you consider what other player have done. For example Mac Geady did to get back into the Celtic side.

Players have to go out and prove it. Brady does harp on a lot about things but one thing I do agree with him on his his fixation with the players mentality. When you see Reid pulling faces all through the game and picking up cards from the ref for stupid things you have to wonder

Reid is still young & Spurs have big squad that will likely be in Europe next season with all the extra games that brings.

Only when Reid proves that he can last 90mins of top level action will he be on the way back.

Football is an unpredictable sport - at any rate 9 people out of 10 would say a move for a typical Forest player to Spurs would be one of the most natural in English football. Same values, same style etc.

There was a rumour the other day that Leeds are looking to buy Reid. With Miller apparantly flourishing there it could be good for Ireland (provided Miller gets a full time transfer).

IMO a move to Leeds would not be a good thing for Reid. I somehow feel that leeds will not come up this year and it would be a step backways for him. There is no doubt in my view he has got bags of talent and he is well capable of playing in the top flight.I guess with a lot more extra training and hard work he will make it.It would be a shame for him and Ireland if he didnt but the ball is in his court.
