Not being funny Sheridan, most clubs have to give notice to their fans of a time change. Most clubs cant just start playing with the start times as it effects a big number of people.

Cant speak for the entire rovers fan base but I for one congratulate ICBINHF on their promotion to the premier division, football is about what happens on the pitch first & foremost.

Personally I have accepted the fact we've been relegated & do you know what? compared to the alternatives we as a club faced a few short months ago its not as bad as expected! Dont get me wrong its not nice, but its not the end of the world either! Our board have planned for this scenario (it would have been negligent not to) & have a business & overall development plan to help provide our new manager with the resources to challenge for an immediate return, i say challenge because there are no certainties in football & i do believe it may be a shock for the club & supporters if its as bad as described here!!

As for the fans of the Premier division teams we've left behind, well your comments are welcome whether they be positive or negative, thats football rivalry! Part & parcel of the game!! Relegation is a set back for the overall development of the club, not a mortal blow as some would hope, we've taken on the chin all the crap that could be flung & we're still here, survival as a club comes first!!

The first division promises to be an experience, of that there can be no doubts, only time will tell whether that be a good or bad one though! Either way there'll be a few of us there to share that experience!!

I think this particular monument to idiocy speaks eloquently enough for itself without further comment on my part.

I stated my belief that - in the hypothetical situation that the FAI/EL had to choose between giving a new/vacant EL place to Dublin City, or ANY other club - I firmly believe the chances are that almost any other club in the country would be deemed to be in a stronger position and offer more to the league. I stand by that assertion, and gave a variety of reasons why I believe it would be the case. You disagree with me, but have given no reasons - choosing only to abuse me. Is that because your view is unsupportable...?

The comparison with MK Dons is a telling one. Essentially a parallel is being drawn with a scenario whereby a club from an allegedly over-represented captial city, with negligible support and no fixed abode - nothing, in fact, save for a modicum of success on the field - was deposed in favour of a club with a wide, untapped catchment area, ambitious, well-resourced owners and well-advanced plans to construct a modern stadium. Basically the wet dream of every dribbling buffoon who recites the same hoary rhetoric in indictment of Dublin City. Congratulations, you just became inextricably trapped in your own logic to an extent that I never considered possible.

There are indeed parallels between Dublin City and the MK Dons - but not the ones you chose to make. Firstly, Wimbledon were not "deposed". The same club was moved 90miles away, and completely changed. There was no 'removal' of Wimbledon, and no effort by the MK Consortium to gain a league place through the traditional route to on-field progression. Similar, in fact, to how Seery began executing his pipe-dream...

The key reason given for Wimbledon's move was their continual inability to find a site for a new stadium within their locality, not the view that they were in an over-represented capital city (in actual fact - south-west London is the only part of the capital that DOESN'T have a senior football team, even though it has a very large and relatively well-off population.). They did have a fan-base worth speaking of before they moved to Selhurst, and at least they were making ostensible attempts to find a ground. And the MK Dons are not financially stable - they are entirely dependent upon the finanical support of their main owner (Pete Winkelman), along with the other members of his consortium. If they pull the plug, the club will die in a matter of weeks.

No - in fact, the real comparison with the Dirty Dons is primarily one of a slightly deranged businessman taking over an existing football club with history and a traditional heartland, changing it's name, location, colours etc (i.e. it's heritage), and throwing money at it in the deperate pursuit of a pipe dream. As with MK Dons, Dublin City have failed miserably to capture the imagination of the general public - creating an unsustainable financial entity that will at some stage have to face the fact that it'll never be able to compete effectively without the public support required to boost its incomes. Both Continuity Home Farm and the MK Dons have a very hard crash-landing awaiting at some point in the future. Two clubs with no history, no fan-base and no traditional roots to tap into to create one, no ground of their own, who are entirely reliant upon the ongoing generosity of a small number of people for their day-to-day financial existence. Give me the evidence to suggest anything other than a crash-landing is therefore on the cards......

Granted a lot of their fans are scumbags, but a lot of them are also among the most dedicated in Europe and the 400club is evidence of that. I'd take them anyday over Irelands version of MK Dons (minus the fans). Dublin City are no addition to the premier, so I can't see how tonight is good for the league.....

My point isn't about us against Shams, it's how can you say that when we're losing, Dublin City will bring more to the league? That is clearly not true! But then you haven't been to many FD matches so you wouldn't know what it's like.
