Ireland didn't play any matches since the last formal publication of rankings.
Does this mean that we disimproved?

The comparision measurement is suspect and conflicts with FIFA guidelines on not re-enforcing stereotypes within football.
( When the measurement system was first introduced members from two regional Confederations (CSF, UEFA) were weighted favourable, this has an adverse effects on teams from the other confederations. And continues.)

Over reliance on this form of measurement, Rots Your Teeth.
The Association of Dentists will be pleased.

Please raise these issues the organisations concerned. I trust my eyesight and my betting slip.

You can not play a league game of a weekend and still drop.

I'd be quite happy to drop even further down by September '06. Who cares, as long as we clock up qualification points?

John Delaney clearly does, he cited a decline in rankings (from 15 to 21 over 3 years) as one of the main reasons not to renew Brian Kerr's contract.

We will drop again by September 2006, teams below us who play in the world cup will be in games ranked higher than any friendlies/US Cup/Unity Cup game we play between then and now so they'll climb above us
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

Pretty harsh given we were as high as 12th only a few months ago. I think he would have used any excuse though. Citing our ranking really annoyed me at the time.
