    Junior Football Coverage on Airwaves

Does anyone have any views on junior football coverage on radio? Do the local radio stations give it as much coverage as they should. How about live commentarys on games. Any thoughts?

Usually junior teams only get coverage if no decent GAA games are on.

We're lucky if we get the results from Lim95's one and only Mike Ahern, let alone commentary

TSDL & NTDL get previews of the weekend's games on a Saturday and results on a Sunday evening of the weekend's fixtures. Tipp Mid West radio used to have a Tuesday nite programme dedicated to TSDL & NTDL, but I think this has gone off the air.

Mid West Radio very good for live updates on junior cup football for mayo sides and have results of galway and sligo games as well in the evening and following morning.

But the GAA always dominate the local radio airwaves.

it good that fai draw was covered by 2FM. But you must remember its national competition with a mulitynational sponsor
One wonders would they give the same coverage for a Dublin junior game?
to most radio's station we are the poor relation and that hasn't changed.

I hear violins....its natural that junior sports dont receive as much coverage as their senior counterparts. This is true in all sports....All Ireland Junior Hurling and Football, Junior Rugby for example. The majority of players in these games are either not talented enough, too young, or don't have enough ambition to play at Senior level within their sports. Who wants to be listening to and reading about that all the time. I certainly don't.

But while you're at it, maybe the dub radio stations don't but the Herald gives outstanding coverage to junior and schoolboy football, as does the Limerick Leader and Live 95FM where I come from.

    Get over it..
