Well this has got off topic but I have to say...

    • what about the pussy cat dolls : dont ya !!
    • Is this the way to Amarillo
    • kanye west-golddigger,i hate it so much!
...possibly 3 of my favourite pop singles of the past year!

Don't ya is a great example of catchy little disposable pop, as good as anything in that underrated genre over the past 12 months, and Tony Christie and KanYe West are both music legends in their own way. People might be sick of them because they feel they're overplayed but "worst of the year" seems very harsh to me.

Wild Rover, have you listened to any other Kanye stuff - saw a televised concert at Abbey Road studios the other night that was great, I think he's the biggest talent in Hip-Hop right now.

For worst, leaving aside the obvious Crazy Frog which doesn't really qualify as music anyway, I'd go for a toss-up between James Blunt and Westlife... (Hang on, I'm not sure I like the sound of that. )

    moronic.

I very much doubt it. Probably a nice Lionel Ritchie t-shirt with "Hello - is it me you're looking for?" on it.

    moronic.

I listen to everything from Christy Moore to Metallica, I don't "only expose myself to top 40 music" in fact I couldn't even tell you the last time I ever even looked at the charts never mind actively listened to it.

My point was simple enough. Maybe it's moronic if you couldn't get it??

you are the one that defined "indie" music etc (whatever that is) as "anything but mainstream"..........
So is mainstream just what you happen to like? as I doubt you were including yourself in that " I love the way....." statement????

(and the moronic referred more to that type of attitude than you personally)

Worst song (apart from the obvious Westlife piece of sh!t) is Ticket to Hell by the unfunny joke that is The Darkness. Speed of Sound by Coldplay a close second.

I'm told that they were a burlesque act in the states? They're rubbish anyway.

The Crazy Frog doesn't deserve to be called a song. Otherwise, it's the single most irritating structured collection of noise I've ever heard.

I didn't mind the Robbie Williams thingie.

    have to say about Robbie
    - He isnt overtly talented
    - He is self obsessed
    - smug
But i cant help liking the old bugger . cant fathom it at all but i do like a lot of his songs and i saw him at Slane in 99 and it was great !

I should have descrided it as Indie OR anything but mainstream because that is what I meant to imply. Mainstream is not just what I like, as I said my tastes vary from one end of the extreme to the other and a lot in between.

Mainstream is an Industry term is it not for "middle of the road msuic, not too extreme, very popular, big sellers"? That's probably how I would define it anyway.

Hate the new wave of crap MOR male singers. James Blunt isn't thw worst but he's the most succesful. Can't even remember the others but there's loads of them and they're all ****e. Oh and Robbie Williams is a circus act.

Oha nd like Jerry above I'm a fan of pop music. The words being annexed by Louis Walsh et al but there have been great pop songs this year, shame the word pop is so stigmatised....

There is a stripper act called the Pussycat Dolls, whether they're the same dancers/singers is another question
If you've seen that soft-core pron flick masquerading as entertainment Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, the 3 girls do a stripping routine, the extras in the scene are the Pussycat Dolls

spot on. I hate the way boyzone are pushed as great pop music and somehow that they were same as take that. take that had some class songs. Boyzone is just bland rubbish. ( I know its not the only example and probably not exactly what you were gettin at but I felt I had to get it off me chest!)

Worst song EVER has to be that god awful song that the Drogs inflicted on us poor unsuspecting Seagulls at the semi-final. Frucks sake, that drogheda themed 'We are all United' or what ever it was called was so damn poor it made my ears bleed. Please tell me none of the Drogs boys actually like it!!!! On a possitive note, hope they do cork in and take the cup.
I'd love to invent a time machine then go back in time and win the lottery, buy new players and a stadium. Time machines are brilliant aren't they- Ian Holloway
