Hi Bishop. Agree with all you have said. The deabte is good and thats why foot is should a good place to do it.
Clubs like UL have always been good at facilities and coaching etc. Clubs have to try to raise the bar in all these areas....
As for players leaving so called smaller clubs. Why do we play football ? to win or because we love the game?
Let the debate continue

well said(sees it)
what makes a clubman? lives in the area, plays or played with the club for at least 10 seasons, family were involved at some point.would it be along those lines? what ye think?
well if thats the case u wont find too many real clubmen playing the game at the moment. One springs to mind is eddie o'donovan, i know he played a season away from pike but he's the only one i can think of at moment, thats if he is still playing.
I think balla A have a few that fall into that category. Most the team is made up of players that came up through their schoolboys. they have been with balla most of their lives.Originally Posted by W.R.F.C
Great point, teams like carew and balla would b exception to rule. Not many players go to those clubs and stay for a long time. Those teams are made up of players who indeed came up true the ranks and stayed. clannish teams(not meant in a bad way)
TT, I think there is a mix of player types, the lads who are good and want to keep improving and so keep changing club, the lads who play because they love the game and the lads who play because it gets them out with their mates and they stay with a particular club....or get away from the missus !Originally Posted by Twinkle Toes
True in what you say. All clubs have a few that came through the ranks and stay but that is not often the case today.Originally Posted by gaidin
You can look around every year at players who move from club to club with out a thought.
I think I may have sidetracked a lot of people today. After all its Limerick Division 1A Thread.
I bet all the clubs would love to be up the premier trying to make an impression but its easier said then done to get out of the Division.
Best of luck to those who are close.....
Surely Eddie Dooley (Herbertstown ) should be considred at center half
John Mulcahy ( Herbertstown ) attacking midfielder
Bishop, Is that why your still playin !!!!!!!!!!!!!! to get a way from the Mrs ???????????????
are we supposed to guess what your on about?Originally Posted by bigdick
I THINK THE ONLY 1S WHO DONT HAVE ANY IN THIS CATEGORY ARE PIKE AND THE BORO............Originally Posted by gaidin

6 of the above players have spent at least 5 seasons with boro, that is more than 50% of players mentioned.....dont think that is a poor amount of clubman to have on your premier team..b-team have even more...
