I had other problems with them before. I ordered a cd - it never arrived, they claimed to have re-sent it and that never arrived again. They gave me a refund in fairness to them. But then a couple of weeks later £1500 of transactions went onto my credit card. I'm not saying it was from using the site but I became suspicous and haven't used them since.

A DVD I ordered didn't arrive once. Sent off an e-mail and got an answer within minutes. They apologised and promised to send a replacement, which arrived 3 days later. Use them quite a bit and that’s the only blip.

I'd bet it wasn't from using the site, was just a coincidence. CD Wow makes millions every week from legitimate sales, they're not going to jeopardise that with fraudulent transactions. It would be completely illogical.

I found their customer service to be excellent. They sent me the wrong CD once and I emailed them, straight away I got an apology and they sent the right one straight away.

I got some dvd's off them a couple of times and when I ordered for a 3rd time they said they had a problem with my credit card (which i know was/is ok).
I couldn't be Ars*d to sort it out with them.

Are you sure your computer wasn't the problem ( i.e a worm or a tracker got your card details?)

    Maybe so,
I never really bothered to check it out, not really too sure about the meaning of the above .

I had the same situation with CD WOW, a number of transactions from my credit card, your 1500 wasnt for Dell Computers was it by any chance. Anyway, the crux of the matter is that it is not CD Wow that handles the money transactions but World Pay a totally different company. My bank sorted it out quickly and without hassle. However both World PAy and CD Wow were unhelpful. I use Play.com now, quicker and cheaper.

I agree Adam but once bitten, twice shy. I'm very careful about using my card on the internet and only ever use reliable sites. Its most likely that my card details were copied somewhere else but I can't be sure of that. It was so much hassle when it happened that I don't want to go through it again.

No - it was some American Clothing company. There were 2 transactions for £700 and £800. I was living in London at the time and it was the HSBC fraud department that noticed it.

    I also use Play.

I wasn't aware that WorldPay processed CD Wow's transactions; that makes it even less likely. I'm sure it's a coincidence now. I understand your point finlma, but I think you're mistaken. It's much more likely to be another outlet you purchased from, something en route to CD Wow (which is more likely to be local than remote), or even local in meatspace. Did you report the issue, and ask your topend issuer (Visa, Mastercard, etc) to investigate? If you don't push for an investigation, they'll only do so if they feel it justifies their time. If you mention a criminal investigation and keep the pressure on though, they'll do it.

I won't use Play.com because they shipped out a faulty Farscape Season One to me, and replaced it (without complaint, to be fair; but at my cost to return) with a faulty Farscape Season One. When I complained the second time they said they'd happily send out another copy, but that they couldn't check if that one would be faulty because their shipping centre is on the Isle of Man (or some other tax haven). When I asked them if they weren't able to pick up the phone to check, they didn't get it. I returned the faulty yoke for a refund and refuse to deal with them again. Amazon costs more, but you don't get this kind of careless crap with them.

Ken Shabby????? I liked Dahamsta. It was a cool, far out name unlike a run of the mill, normal, boring name like sirhamish.

I don't know if this post is relevant but I usually stick with Amazon and via them in the new and used section, an outfit, based in Florida called Caiman. Never had a single bit of bother with them and always top class CDs etc and lightning fast delivery.

For rare singles and suchlike, the spacebar.co.uk and Matts CD singles are very good but a little dear. Augies records are cheaper in that area.

I've used both paypal, something to do with cafe press and bidpay. Never heard of World Pay? Is there a difference? I've noticed a few on eBay don't like paypal and I think there's a site called something like "Why paypal sucks".

Worldpay isn't really like the others. Its just a company that processes credit card transactions.

Cheers Dodge man. But doesn't paypal and bidpay do likewise?? Now you've really confused me.

I'll google that outfit and see what they're like anyway.

Just done that- they seem to be exactly the same as paypal???

Indeed, but they're also one step up the ladder from PP and other primarily account-based transaction providers, because they issue merchant accounts to their merchants, which requires a relatively stringent application procedure.

merchant accounts? That something like Musgraves Cash and Carry? I mean, for dealers and bodies purchasing items that require a large financial outlay and extensive credit facilities??

    Maybe I'll just quit now.

i'd say ive bought about 20 items from them in total and the only time ive had any trouble is right now! been waiting for something for 23 days now-i would say though that they will keep you informed and their customer service is good-i had no problems with a refund

slightly cheaper than play as well, cds only, though if you want something thats not that well known-non chart stuff, they'll rarely have it

Amazon for dvds. cd wow and play for cds

Ordinarily, if you want to accept credit cards, you need a special bank account called a merchant account. PayPal and the like negate this to a degree on the Internet.

I've never had any complaints with cd-wow.
I find BangCD cheaper and faster with deliveries though.
