    Celtic wanted O'Callaghan

There was a few names guessed about in this thread:
    http://foot.ie/showthread.php?t=27124

but I don't think anyone thought they were looking at O'Callaghan. I'd love to know what the likes of Pete would think of him if he joined Celtic. Also, I'd love to know what I'd think of him if he joined Celtic as atm I hate him.

"At the minute I am just going to concentrate on playing for Cork City. I do have other clubs ringing me up and asking me what's happening but I am not going to be bothered with it any more unless it is concrete.

Celtic spoke to me earlier on in the year but after they lost the European game they couldn't sign me. I would be tempted if it was the right club just to prove a point to myself.

I could have gone to Drogheda this year for three times the money I get at Cork City but it's just not about money, it's about proving things to myself.

I know I am good enough player to make it at least in the Championship in England like Kevin Doyle has. But Cork have been good to me and helped me build my career back up.

I owe a lot to them as well and if I can just win a league and win a cup at least I will have got medals under my belt and will be remembered."

    I dunno.
Maybe they were just doing a bit of networking in a "we'll keep an eye on ya" sort of way but he also claimed Nantes were in for him.
Selfish i know, but i'm just glad that George is 26 (maybe 25) and is very unlikely to be picked up by the Brits at this stage.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

O'Bama - "Eerah yeah, I'd say we can alright!"

    G.O'Mahoney Trapattoni'll sort ém out!!

saw that meself, in the indo wasnt it? good interview, got a full page spread in the metro edition, also he seems to still have a lot of respect for dolan, said they has settled whatever differences they had, and spoke a good bit bout his attention to detail and presence in the dressingroom
arent we all just magic little monkeys...

Good article on King George today in the Indo.

That Celtic rumour is old news as was around at time George negotiating new contract.

Besides he didn't have any interest in moving when Celtic couldn't promise him European football.

Are Drogheda flush or are Cork tight fisted?

Drogs are spendthrifts in the boom & bust variety. City are moire realistic in spending closer to what they can afford as big increases for stars lead to trickle on wages increases throughout the squad.

A Cork fan recently said on here that his new contract is over 2k a week. Surely Drogheda didn't offer him 6k a week? It would seem they definately offered him 3k though, which still is pretty savage money.

I'd say Georgie is exaggerating a bit with the three times comment. I'd say Drogheda might have offered him 3 times his only contract maybe which would be about 4k a week.... don't know where the fcuk they getting that kind of money from though.

Lennox said in his programme notes I think it was that he budgets for bad times and that extras are a bonus, so yes City are tight fisted!
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

I think O' Callaghan isnt very physically strong. He needs to seriously work on that side of things if he wants to go anywhere. In fact all the Cork lads have to do some serious weight training over the winter as Rico says
